 The hardware holding those pads to the shovel are not very strong so you may want to go to Home Depot or Lowes to get a Grade 8 screw and nut for extreme strength.

 Trying to dig out large deep roots, I put my entire 270 pounds on one end of the shovel with large deep roots on the other side and there was no bend whatsoever with this shovel. My only suggestion, is to purchase from Corona at least one or two additional rubber step pads. This is by far the strongest (and heaviest) shovel I have ever used. Much stronger than steel digging bars (at least by other companies). Best Shovel Ever!

This shovel is not for you if you are looking to spread loads of dirt or do a lot of work you need the best shovel for that which is (Bully Tools 82515). I used this Corona shovel to cut and dig up bamboo. This shovel is a beast and was worth every penny! The angle from the handle to the blade is straighter than most shovels so I could use it kind of like a spear. Really nice! HEAVY but that is what I liked about it for the purpose I was using it for!

I broke five shovels last summer. My husband ordered this bad boy for me to see if we could get some longevity. This is the most sturdy shovel I have ever laid gloves on. It’s heavier than the wood handled ones but it cuts through roots, handles prying, and the footrest makes it so my boot doesn’t feel like it’s going to bend in half when I push down on it
