I know what you're thinking. Why the heck is this potato ricer so expensive? In the time I had it on my wish list, it bounced between $45 and $60, which is so much for a kitchen utensil given the fact literal slowcookers are less expensive and they cook a whole meal. I will say, though, this ricer is the Cadillac of ricers. It's a great weight for ricing potatoes and it so much more efficient than other ricers I've used in the past

 I felt that I could bend them without much effort if I had wanted to. The handles on this Chef'n model are also U shaped but of very sturdy heavy plastic and they do not bend at all when I use the ricer. The cup is nice stainless steel and the plunger is also heavy plastic along with the gears. The only other metal part on the unit is the chromed connector bar holding the plunger as seen in the photo

I really like that I can pop out the stainless cup for cleaning though I would recommend if you do use the top rack dishwasher mode to clean it that you take a minute and scrub the cup's base because food tends to stick there unless you rinse it immediately after using. I have used this for making mashed potatoes and cauliflower (I am diabetic and this is lower carb for me) so far and I am quite pleased with the results

..super sweet! Plus, it cleans super quick and easy! The basket pops out and into the dishwasher but I hand wash the handle assembly. My husband used it for the first time tonight and fell in love with it!  I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived - not only is it sturdy, it's HUGE compared to Mom's. I could mash enough potatoes for the Seventh Fleet and still have enough energy to make a nice pie.

I had borrowed my Mom's ricer to make our emergency Christmas dinner (a long story I won't bore you with now). I'd never made mashed potatoes before, and wanted to make sure they weren't lumpy. I loved this thing, with two reservations: (1) It has holes in the sides of the bowl, which means that on the first try, I shout potatoes ALL over the place; and (2) I found out after running it through the dishwasher that I shouldn't have done that. Oops

 So I looked for a ricer that seemed sturdy and didn't have those two (major in my book) drawbacks. This one filled the bill, and at a decent price. GREAT ricer

If you’re on the fence, this is so worth it!  Big mashed potatoes fan here and once I learned a ricer was the trick to making amazing mashed potatoes I bought a cheap one years ago. But oh man the amount of strength I needed to use it (thanksgiving was brutal when making for a large group!), but after years of use it broke. So I’ve been looking for a new one but hesitant to spend that much on a ricer. Well I did and oh man this thing is amazing! So easy to use, barely needed to exert any strength and super easy to clean! 100% worth it! Wish I had bought this years ago!!

Worth the money

 I think it’s size helps with how easy it makes ricing. I am not a very strong individual and I did not have difficulties putting a whole skinned baked potato through this. I definitely am glad I bought it.

When I first got this it was squeaky, I just put some olive oil on it and the sound immediately went away. I bought this to make delicious mashed potatoes, but since I had it I decided to try to make gnocchi which came out great. This ricer is pretty large and will take up some space but I think it’s worth it. It comes apart for easy cleaning
