The Cambridge Audio CXA81 is a great integrated amp, despite the recent thrashing ASR gave it. It stays out of the way and delivers clean, unadulterated sound. I feel like I'm listening to music as the artists intended. It's a big step up from Zone 2 on my Denon X2100W, which seemed to have a little trouble driving the speakers at lower frequencies.

The CXA81 has topped many best of lists but perhaps my setup wasn't the right match. Playing through ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 tower speakers, I found the amp to lack some punch in the mid range. Hi Fi system. It sounds great. The only negative thing I can see is the remote control. For the $, the remote should have a little safistication.

I'm hearing things I couldn't before and even my wife who couldnt care less about equipment was blown away. The first song I streamed (Frank Ocean - White Ferrari), I had no idea Bluetooth could sound so rich and deep. I cannot recommend the Cambridge Audio CXA81 enough, the build quality is like nothing I've had the pleasure of touching.

The as701 had gobs of power put the treble response was to much for my ears. I ended up with a Cambridge Audio cxa81 and it is a much better pairing with the rp160m. The Marantz pm8006 was also great with the rp160m. All that said, I’d look at the Cambridge amps for a more balanced presentation with Klipsch speakers.

After much consideration and homework I landed on this amp. I’m not an audiophile and a lot of more expensive amps would be lost on my ears. So why the CXa81?
