They have been flirting with this by flying military operations in Taiwanese airspace in recent months. If China was to invade Taiwan, one would reasonably assume that all Taiwanese corporations would be forcibly brought under the boot of the CCP, as is standard practice in China, and if that were to come to pass, I would not recommend anyone have any sensitive data stored in any way that is accessible to Synology. The folks at Synology might be great, upstanding freedom loving folks, but if they become a state of China (which China claims it is already), then it's simply a matter of natural process in China that large corporations must have CCP representatives on their staff to oversee all of the business operations and the CCP has complete control over that corporation should they choose to leverage it.
