 So now I'm going to put the death knob back at noon and crank the rate. I'll just gradually go through it. And that sounds scrumdiddlyumptious. It sounds cool

Boss BF2 Flanger Pedal Review

 Hey guys, I'm Justin Spicer. I'm here today with my friender Jack Stang, but I'm also

 going to be the main purpose for this video is to review one of my pedals. This is the

 Boss Flanger. The model name is the Boss BF2, and this is a variation of one of the Boss

 Flanger pedals that's not being made anymore. Now I think they have the Boss BF5 or something

 like that, but this is the BF2. I got this like a year ago. I wanted something that would

 sound like a Leslie speaker, and they got us like, oh, this will do, and it didn't do,

 but it sounds good. So yeah, I'm just going to be reviewing it. I'm just going to show

 you some basic sounds and some sounds that aren't basic. Yeah, it's got four knobs on

 it. It's like every other Boss pedal. It comes in a cool color, and it looks nice on your

 board. It's got a knob for manual, depth, rate, and res, which I assume means resolution.

 I'm not sure what the manual and the res knobs or controls really do, but I know that they

 have a difference in the sound. I know what the depth knob does, and I know what the rate

 knob does. So yeah, it comes in this color. It's purple, and it's got a thing for your

 9-volt adapters if you wish to have them, and it's got your input and output, which

 I think is cool, because some pedals don't have that. Now that's it. I guess all I have

 to do is show you what it sounds like. So today I'm playing with my Jag Stang, and I'm

 just going to show you what this thing sounds like clean with distortion. So this is the

 neck pickup of my Jag Stang clean. As always, from now on, unless I say otherwise, we're

 going to be plugged into the Line 6 UX2 thing, and my clean sound is two amplifiers. It's

 a Roland Jazz Chorus into this reverb thing, and then it's a Vox AC-30 type thing, a Vox

 AC-15. One of the two. I think it's the, yeah, it's the A-30. Class A-30 Top Boost is Line

 6. Oh, so clever name for it, but it's a stereo guitar sound for me, and it's probably going

 to be mono for you. So that's my clean sound, and this is with the Flanger on. All the knobs

 right here. So yeah, that's the clean sound, and this is the bridge pickup, first clean.

 So I have a single coil here and a humbucker here. Now for the Flanger in.

 It'll be out of phase, actually, so that sounds like this. So it's a very funky sound. That's

 the one way... If you don't know what your guitar... If you hear a guitar sound that

 sounds like this and you don't know what it actually is, just play your E9 chord or your

 funk chord, basically, and that'll just give it away right there for some reason. And now

 for the Flanger on. So it's like flangy funk. That's a song sound right there. I got some

 funk in my flange. Flange my funk. Jeff Peck song. Anyway, so now I'm just going to crank

 some of the knobs, the manual. That's going to be the first one I'm going to move around.

 Okay. I think I know what this does. So I have the manual all the way down now. I think

 this... When it's all the way down, it's a lot more crazy. I wish I knew what it actually

 was. Anyway, so I'll put that back at noon, the death knob. It's at noon. I'm going to

 crank it. So yeah, and now I'm going to bring it all the way down. Go back to the neck pickup.

 Off, off, on. So when you have the death knob all the way down, it's like it's a boost of

 sorts or it's just like making it a little bit louder. It's a different tone. It's cool.

 So now I'm going to put the death knob back at noon and crank the rate. I'll just gradually

 go through it. And that sounds scrumdiddlyumptious. It sounds cool. Thank you for watching. I'm

 taking a flanger for me. I think I'm going to turn into my secret weapon. If I'm doing

 guitar tracks or something, if I need a guitar track that has a little something extra to

 it, I'll just put this thing on it and no one will be able to tell it's on except for

 me. The rate's at three o'clock, nine o'clock actually. Now I'm going to bring it back to

 noon and the resolution knob. Again, I kind of don't know what it actually does, but it's

 like different. Now I'm just going to bring it down. Off, on. So now I'm going to crank

 everything all the way up just because I can.

 The resolution down to noon. All the way down. Actually, the one sound I have been, I was

 just experimenting with earlier was the resolution, everything else all the way up except the

 manual. The manual is all the way down. Actually, no, I got to turn, manual's all the way down.

 The death knob is at noon. That's a sound. Was that the shags?

 Now, I think this was the sound I was talking about. The resolution is all the way up, the

 manual's all the way down and then everything else is at noon. Sounds like a, it sounds

 like flanging. It sounds like two record players playing at the same time, which actually no,

 two tape players playing at the same time, which no, two tape players playing at the
