I would recommend a bigger pot if you're looking to deep-fry a turkey for your family; the width is about right for even a fairly large bird, but you need something taller almost certainly.

  In reality, I think you need to make sure your bird is very short and squat so that it does not rise up too high. If you go by the "MAX EMPTY FILL LINE" on the tank itself, you're going to be quite limited to the actual size of something you can put in here. good now for 2 yrs of use

So, bought this out of an abundance of precaution after a larger other brand fryer pot (FYI it appears that the attorneys want these "designed for the bird pots"to be called stock pots) developed a hole after 2 years. Looking at my original 3025 , no holes but in regular use since 1999. It is 11 inches in diameter, perfect for 3 gallons of oil and 14-18 lb gobblers. This newer version is 11

5 in diameter, will need more oil and is less thick than the older version. The original came with stainless heavy duty rack and lifter. This one is, well lets be honest, thin aluminum and made poorly. The lifter is too small and short to keep those precious fingers and hands away from oil, will need oilproof oven mit to hold onto it

As one review mentioned chicken pegs I figured that trading my old stainless rack for the new flat round perforated one might at least net me some way of skewering chix.  Will it last 22 years at 5-6 turkeys and 7 or 8 low country boils a year ? We will see.
