 So, I'd feel perfectly comfortable putting an athletic intermediate on it. You know, somebody who's still kind of working on their technique, I think the ski has a lot of benefits. I will say that the more centered, more symmetrical mount point and shape is certainly something to consider. So, if you're not skiing park or if you're not at least interested in that side of the sport, you might be better off getting a ski with a more directional shape and a further back mount point, but yeah, this thing's a lot of fun

 There's really no difference between this ski and the ARV 96, which would be the men's equivalent. A very, very simple ski, but sometimes a simple ski is really, really fun and all you need. We kind of talk about that a lot here at SkiEssentials.com

Would have preferred the maidens, line blends, reckoner 102, or arw 96, etc. but they didn’t have anything near my size. I found a great deal on some 163 cm, Armada ARW 96 demos. My boyfriend says that size would be okay as I’m learning, but since I picked it up quickly, I might desire a ski that’s closer to the 168-172 range sooner than later

5 meter turn radius, so right in the middle zone there. A lot of these mid-90s underfoot skis, you do see that mid-range in the turn radius and that allows the skier to, you know, dictate the shape and duration of the turn. Works really well if you're, you know, doing woods or other spots where you need to vary your turn shape, you don't want to get locked into a shorter turn shape, you know, these aren't hooky at all, they don't grab and yank you into the turn or, you know, really lock you into the end. You're able to dictate that, you know, from tip to tail, how that turn's going to go

 They do add, you know, they have a vertical sidewall underfoot here from under the binding mount areas tapering to a cap in the tips and the tails. So they are able to kind of thin out the core towards the ends of the skis. That gives it more playful, more energetic feel in the very ends while keeping it stiff and strong underfoot. You get a surprising amount of edge grip for a relatively simple build, and things on the flexible side, but it's also quite energetic

 It's one of those really well-rounded skis, just checks a lot of boxes right down the middle, you know, good strong performance as a result. So it's great to see what Armada does with a relatively simple build, good shaping, appropriate rocker profile and taper go a long way to make this just a positive overall experience. So that's it, that's the Armada ARW 96. As usual, it's a, you know, it's a fan favorite here at our test just because of its fun and playful nature and that's really what it's all about out there

 So this is the ARW 96. This is from Armada's ARW range. It features all the high-end construction and performance of their award-winning ARV all-mountain freestyle series, but in sizes and styles for women. This is the widest model at 96mm in the waist, so it's really versatile for skiing in the park on piste, and it works well in powder as well

 For the more experienced skiers who want to take what they've learned in the park and translate that into playing all over the mountain in any snow conditions, the 2019 ARW 96 from Armada is one of the best skis out there.

 In this construction, the ARW 96, you have our 75 sidewall, which is most of the ski has considerable amount of sidewall construction, which adds durability to the ski and it sits above the 2.5 impact edge, which is a thick metal edge that helps reduce edge cracking and edge damage. In addition, we don't have the sidewall on the tips and tails, so what that does is allows the ski to have a much lower swing weight, so it's easy to set the ski into rotation and keep that rotation going. It cars really well throughout the entire mountain, but at the same time it tracks really smoothly into and away from jumps

 Well, I think of you like when we would go out and ski here in Park City is like, you know, you're not boosting out of the pipe, but you're slashing the pipe. They are super fun to just play around all over the mountain from if I can just charge in the park, jump, do rails, do butters, block grabs, and then right as I get out, I still find the playfulness of the ski anywhere.  The 96 ARW is definitely my favorite park ski. It has a poplar and ash core, so now as we get into constructions of skis that are going to see more park skiing and rail influence as well, the construction characteristics need to be built a little bit more robustly so the skis last.  It's perfect for just having a playful day in the terrain park, especially if the snow's soft or firm. It's really good at carving, but I love it on like a soft, slushy park day because you can hold your edge off the jumps. I mount them center and they're super fun for carving. If it is an icy day, I don't like to be in the terrain park anyway, so I'll go take them on the groomers
