Our review team noted very few drawbacks to this otherwise feature-rich jacket. For long rock climbing routes, it can be helpful to have a stow-away pocket with a loop to clip to your harness. Sadly, the Proton FL does not have this feature, so if you need to stash your jacket mid-route, you'll have to get a stuff sack specific for the job.  Two chest pockets fit quite a bit of stuff in them, you've got two side pockets again fairly. Deep and they're insulated as well to keep your hands warm when it's cold you've got a pod, that's not helmet compatible, but it will fit over a cap. The hood's not insulated, but obviously just keep the wind off your head in a in a cold windy day, and the final thing to mention is: you: do have hem adjusters on the bottom, just to seal out cold drafts. If it's a particularly chilly day, that's pretty much, it feature wise, pretty much everything you need for this type of jacket

 What i find sets this jacket apart from other jack other insulated jackets - i own is just how breathable it is. So this is one of my go-to pieces for when i'm hiking or trail running, and i find that i need some extra warmth, but i don't want to overheat, and this has been designed with breathability at the forefront, no matter how hard i'm working in cold conditions. I just find it keeps a real good kind of climate inside the jacket and i find that i'm not sweating too much or overheating. But it's just giving me that extra boost of warmth that you often need in colder weather, well terex badged this jacket

 As more of a summer jacket, but what i tend to find is that in the summer and autumn months i'm often fine just wearing it as a stand-alone jacket over a uh over a base layer and then in the winter months i tend to layer it as A mid layer underneath a soft shell or a hard shell, depending on the weather and again providing them active. I do find it just keeps me extremely toasty, whether it's summer or winter, providing i've got the right layering system in place. So it's worth mentioning that, although this jacket is badged as an insulating jacket, it's not the kind of jacket that i'd wear on a really cold day when i've stopped for lunch, for example, it definitely keeps you warm when you're doing higher output activities in cold weather, But once you've stopped, you definitely need to reach for either a layer to protect it or a warmer jacket, but it's not been designed for that purpose, so i wouldn't recommend it as a jacket. If you just want something to keep you warm as an everyday winter coat, it's not designed for that purpose

 Water will start to come through after a point in time being in prolonged rain, but light showers things like that. Absolutely fine, it will keep you keep you nice and dry. So i'll, just do a very quick run through of the features of the jacket. Four pockets

 Really, nice and the whole hood is insulated with this too, whereas the other one it was just around the collar and, like i said, it's really nice just having it around the back of your neck in that collar. But this one insulated, the whole hood and this stuff is so silky soft, it's just so nice. It feels great when you're wearing it. So here's the new jacket, okay, the new version: this is a color called conifer, okay, differences

 It'S very lightweight right this or an atom sl same idea. This is a very lightweight jacket. I coach volleyball. I like wearing this when i go out to coach volleyball when it's a little warmer like in the spring, because i don't need a big heavy jacket and when i leave the gym

 Now this jacket here just the way it fits it's a little shorter in the front. Okay, i mean it's perfect in the front, but the back is pretty long. Okay, definitely a little longer fitting jacket in the rear. Now this jacket is just extremely comfortable

I had to get that because i really like it so here we are okay and you can see this on the inside of this jacket. The Arc'teryx Proton FL Hoody

Arcteryx recently released the Proton FL, a soft-shell hoody that moves with you, sweats with you and packs away when you don’t need it. It uses a Fortius Air 20 fabric which gives it light air permeability and has good breathability from the Octa Loft, the 100% polyester breathable insulation. This good looking hoody will make a great addition to a mountain layering system.

Answer, not too shabby. Overall I was very impressed with the warmth and breathability. I have used it Spring / Winter / Fall for ski touring, climbing, and alpine running, plus daily use around town. This hoody is a great active layer for those cold days when it’s hard to regulate your body temperature

 The result? Unbelievable comfort with hood up. The insulation is extended up around the high collar and around to the back of the neck. So with the hood up and the collar fully zipped, I felt that those areas susceptible to the elements (back of the neck, throat, etc.) were warm and toasty

 This means cutting down the weight in areas that it isn’t totally essential, and implementing features that capitalize on maximum impact with minimum weight.

Sometimes breathable pieces compromise on warmth — not the Proton FL. While it doesn’t claim to be any kind of heavy insulator or storm-proof shell, it performs perfectly as a weather-resistant mid-layer that doesn’t need to be stripped when weather or output level changes.  Bonus: the lining of the Proton is super-soft and cozy, and feels great against bare arms. But if you find yourself wanting a baselayer underneath, those layers will comfortably fit under it as well

During stop-and-go activity, the Proton FL reigns supreme. The Octa Loft Insulation is intended to create what Arc’teryx calls a “comfortable microclimate.” Basically, wear-all-day comfort that allows you to explore a range of temperatures and output levels without being held back by your gear. I wouldn’t hesitate to grab the Proton FL if I were packing for an alpine trip, but I also wore it while running in Spokane’s winter weather
