Arc'teryx Gamma SL

0C/32F: Gamma SL worked great at this temp with just a long sleeve basic poly shirt. Hardly any sweat build up that I noticed at a moderate pace.

Experience:

In the two weeks I've had this jacket, I've tested it with some casual cycling and walking in light precipitation. In these conditions I was dry and comfortable: the jacket is especially breathable, and there's a little stretch to the fabric that really helps with comfort.

**Hem:** Seems like one of the few pieces without a tapered hem. Decent amount longer in the front than the gamma SL seen [here](https://imgur.com/a/U1N2343). **Comfort:** I find the next to skin feel to be fairly comfortable. There is no fleece lining aside from the pockets like the Gore Infinium has with the solano.

This zip hoodie is lightweight, soft to the touch and did a great job of blocking out the wind. I did not get a chance to test/use it in wet conditions, but it looks like it would to a decent job of keeping moisture out in light, intermittent rain (not heavy, sustained rain since it would most likel...

The gamma SL is much more abrasion resistant than the nodin, while breathing much better than the Squamish. Squamish is what you’d wear above the tree line over a grid fleece. There’s not much to brush up against and you want to fully block that wind. Whereas the gamma is what you’d wear hiking in the denser forest where brushing up against trees/bushes/rock are more prevalent and you want essentially a layer of protection that will still cut some of the wind while still regulating your body moisture.

First the one horrible thing: it sucks water like a spunge. DWR is totally absent. My jacket is brand spanking new. Very light rain on my first use, and i got wet as if i did not wear the jacket.

The material is more wind proof and better than expected as preventing rain from seeping through. The fit is trim, yet stretchy, with arms the seem a bit longer. The only downside other than weight is that the hood is not as nice and the Gamma SL packs down a bit better.

I bought this men’s jacket for myself as they don’t sell it in a female version. Unfortunately sizing doesn’t work for females and had to return it and ordered a larger size for my husband. He loves it & it is a great light weight jacket for the fall & spring. Please make it in a female version!!

I bought the Gamma SL recently and looking forward to use it as my go to hiking and biking jacket. It should breath more than the squamish and be a little more robust. As i'm not into wintersports a rainshell isnt my most used layer, i own a patagonia torrentshell 3L for the days which might bring rain, thats it. What i dont like about arcteryx hardshells is the helmet hoody.
