Arc'teryx Gamma AR

This jacket does a great job at being wind-proof when you're on-the-go. When you're stopped then you might begin to feel it a little depending on your layers underneath, but for the most-part it did a great job. The breathability of the jacket felt nice and I never felt stuffy at any point while wearing it. In summary, I'm very pleased with my purchase so far.

I ordered the pants to be a large despite wearing 34x34 in jeans. This allowed more room in the pants for a layer of thermals underneath. They fit perfectly and its a wonderful design. This company has yet to let me down when it comes to clothing. Shoes are a different story. Would definitely recomm...

First and foremost I was really pleased by the Gamma AR pants. They really showed that they were made for the conditions and actually exceeded my expectations since I spend the good part of an hour wading through waist deep snow and left with my legs dry and reasonably warm. The new and improved steel buckle waist belt offered a secure fit and did not bail even when I was struggling to push forward in the tall snow. Pockets are reasonably sized and well placed.

These have become a go to trousers for any of my winter hikes. So far they have worked brilliantly in temperatures ranging from -15 to around +10.

My top 3 that I can't find good substitutes for with other brands.

coming from the gamma lt pant, this AR pant is warmer. Like the gamma MX jacket, the face fabric is tightly weaved and gives that burly feeling.

Gamma AR pants - Definitely a winter piece, but they certainly deserve the AR designation. I wear them casually, but I can imagine some would find them too technical looking. The fit is excellent, they shed wind and snow and moisture like nothing, and they feel like sweatpants. Truly one of my favourite pieces from Arc.

* Gamma AR and Gamma LT as pants. * Temperature range from 5F-45F in winter (feeling colder with wind chill and humidity). * Run fairly warm and heat up quickly (except for hands and feet which are usually cold) when doing physical activity. * Looking for long term, durable layer outer layer to span multiple activities for winter and fall.

I usually use that as shoulder season static insulation. I know you said your bottoms are sorted but the Gamma AR pants have been amazing for colder days.

* Arc'teryx Gamma - outside my budget. * Outdoor Research Ferrosi - these are close to perfect but they might be too thin.
