 I Guess I should elaborate a little bit on the Arc'teryx Bora Ar-50 backpack is made to carry a really heavy loads like lots of foods and climbing gear to a base camp. Because of that, it has this burly and heavy construction. Deepak alone weighs empty two thousand three hundred and thirty grams which is really heavy which in my book makes it less suitable to backpacking. I Prefer backpacks which are well under one kilo in weight and also because of the rest of my equipment is very light

 They will be linked in a playlist at the end of the video. I Have used this backpack on a few longer hikes of around 100 kilometers distance and when I knew it would be raining a lot but generally I haven't used the pack that much because it is quite heavy empty the Borah Ar-50 in the back langt tall is two thousand three hundred and thirty grams and I find that really heavy I have a lot of lighter packs at home that I prefer to use if I not need to carry really heavy loads if you have to carry very heavy laws something between 15 and 25 kilos then this backpack is really good because it transfers the weight very well to the hip. Speaking of the hip belt, this hip belt has a roto Glide trade mark system which means it moves up and down and side-to-side That is really useful if you're climbing up a mountain because the hip belt moves with your hips and it also moves up and down and in that way it gives you more freedom of movement. It also has two really nice stretch mesh pockets on them which are pretty big and very useful if you want to have stuff close by

Let's go I Got this backpack for free with no strings attached from the back fender and I find that very liberating because that way I can tell you what's good and what is not so good with this backpack. I Was not paid to review this backpack and there's just my opinion about it in this video. Arc'teryx Bora AR 50 Review

The reason for the low star review is because the straps take a lot of work to loosen and tighten, and the weight of the pack put a lot of weight against my lower back based on the design of the hipbelt. I'm used to the slick functionality of Osprey straps, but these were as stiff as my old backpacking pack from the mid 90's. The side-entrance zipper would be more useful if it had more of a D or curved opening, because it's vertical shape does not make accessing the main compartment very easy.

 It's a very expensive pack for what amounts to a single bag. Having said that, the material keeps whatever is inside try, which is a big plus.

 The pack itself needs a few more straps, ideally a couple that go across the back of the pack so you can lash stuff onto it. Two straps on the bottom would work as well. After a few months...

 It's easy to get into from here. I Like to put my hats and gloves and math and cameras and stuff up there that I can easily get to while on the trail I Like the pocket that's underneath it allows you to separate some of those things that you never get into say your wallet and your car keys and stuff like that that you don't want to get into hopefully your first aid kit. I like the large kangaroo pocket on the outside able to store some of the rain gear and other things that you want to get to without having to get it and that main part of the pocket I Like the pockets inside, you've got a water bladder sleeve there and then a pocket on the other side with a zipper to help keep some of the other small things separate that you might want to I Love the waterproof fabrics that are on it allow you know, lets you take your pack out and you know, at least a moderate rain without having to worry about getting any other stuff in there wet. You're gonna be out for an extended period of time and heavy rains and stuff I would probably still take a pack cover these stretch mesh hip pockets I Actually really liked them I Didn't think I would know nothing ever felt like he was going to fall out

 I Also found that the more you pull these, the more you actually feel that roto Glide contraption in the middle of your back. So I mean if you if you take these and squeeze them nice and tight like a lot of people would with the traditional pack that has load stabilizers like this, you will probably feel that in your back. Also noticed these straps right here have like a plastic coating on them and I know it's because the amount of friction that it's going to hit right here on the hip belt, but right back here in my back. I Can actually feel that strap kind of rubbing me just a little bit so it's not bad

ARCTERYX BORA AR 63 REVIEW

 There doesn't seem to be a way to easily store the extra slack at the end and I have resorted to rubber bands. Sizing: It only comes in two sizes: Regular and Tall. However, I think it runs a bit too long in the torso. For reference, I am 5' 7'' and I just barely fit in the regular with it adjusted to it's shortest length

 The Bora 63, on the other hand, has two very small and very nonadjustable loops. Poor Strap Management: This mostly concerns the adjustment straps in the brain and the load lifter straps. There doesn't seem to be a way to easily store the extra slack at the end and I have resorted to rubber bands. Sizing: It only comes in two sizes: Regular and Tall

 Sliding over rough ice/rock, walking through heavy brush, and getting it frozen a couple times without needing anything more than a good wash with the hose in the back yard when I get home. Comfort: If you like the cushier feel of a suspension style frame, then this backpack is probably not for you. If you generally prefer stiffer foam to support heavier loads more comfortably, this pack has it in spades. At first, I thought the pivot hip belt system was a little gimmicky, but now I am definitely a believer

 For example, my two side pockets usually contain my water bottles AND the bottom portions of my tent poles and hand axe (one on each side).  **The Bad** No Bottom Straps: Most top of the line packs feature adjustable straps on the bottom to store gear externally. Best Hiking Backpacks 2021 - Arc'teryx Bora AR 63 Review

The Bora 63 is another home run, but unfortunately just doesn't work for what I bought it for, and the way I pack. The workmanship and durability are unmatched, but the superior fabric limits the functionality for the flexibility I need for packing and accessibility. I like to trek in bear country, whether in the Sierras, Yellowstone or up at Glacier NP, and packing with a canister in this pack just doesn't work. For any pack a canister sucks and always takes a lot of space, but with such limited access this pack just isn't practical for bear country treks

Bottom line; I need a bigger pack! This pack is awesome just not for what I need it for. I rated only 2 stars just so I could help people think twice based on their packing styles. I personally never look at the 5-star reviews, I always look at the lower star to hear the challenges someone experienced. 

Arc'teryx is GREAT, but this bag just doesn't work for what I bought it for

 I can climb over things. Even My natural stride—the pivoting point ensures that the hip belt is always exactly where it needs to be while the pack can sort of move with your body. So It's a big improvement over normal hit belt technology, and you know,, it's nice to see innovations sort of come through in a big way that will make your day a lot better when you're out on the trail for a long time.

So This is the 50-litre version. It comes in a bigger version, but this is a great pack for 2-3 days out on the trail, and like all of Arc'teryx's gear, it's completely dialed

First Impressions: The Arc'teryx Bora Backpack

 As much as I like the quality of the main bag, although the materials used in the shoulder straps and hip belt were very pleasant to wear, I question their durability. One of the straps on my bag already had some slight wear from what seemed to be the sternum strap rubbing against the fabric- curious to see how this material handles continued abuse over many trips. And that brings me to my final point and this is very subjective, the bag has such a “premium” feel, also helped by its price tag, I would always be mindful of being extremely careful with it and that shouldn’t be the case for a backpack. Out on the trail it’s gonna take some abuse and you’re gonna want to chuck it around sometimes, and I simply wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that with this bag

What don’t I like about the bag? They’ve gone for a very minimalistic design, with as few bells and whistles as possible. I myself prefer to have more organisation in the bag and the Bora really has very little of that. Once I loaded the bag up, for whatever reason it felt really small. Compared to similar 65L bags from other brands, I just couldn’t fit my gear in (compressed sleeping bag, 1 person tent, inflatable sleeping pad and a 12L dry bag was all I could fit)

I ended up returning the bag because in spite of the incredible comfort, which for me was the main selling point, I simply couldn’t fit my gear in.
