2023 Arbor Annex Camber - SkiEssentials.com Snowboard Test

 Hi snowboarders. JG here at SkiEssentials.com. I'm here to go over the Arbor Annex. This

 is another one of Brian Agucci's pro models. This is like more of his big mountain board

 for deep days in Jackson Hole. We had this board in our 2023 board test that we did and

 we had some really good reviews on it and we did ride it in the 159. It comes with a

 system camber. You can see the camber. I'm compressing it right now. So this is like

 a big mountain or a big guy's board who's looking to really like who rides fast, ride

 big lines, do some big drops. It does come with 6mm of camber and it has the netting

 in the side here. It's kind of a torsion control. It has bio-resin. It has the mixed glass which

 is a combination of biax glass and triax glass on top. Pretty solid board. I remember riding

 this board and I used to ride shorter boards but I was riding this 159 and it has kind

 of a bigger radius turn to it and easy enough to ride though. So if you're looking for a

 board that kind of like just charges like you have to be pretty aggressive and kind

 of like high intermediate to the next level of riding or somebody who's looking to really

 push their riding, this could be a really good board for that. I could see it doing

 well in some boarder crosses or some bank sloms. I think it would ride really well and

 the system camber really gives you a lot of edge hold in different variable conditions

 when in snow or terrain is just inconsistent. You have a lot of edge hold with that camber.

 So take a look at it. Another one of Brian's boards. He does the artwork. So if you're

 a fan of his artwork, I was really surprised just how light this board is for a 159. So

 that's something to consider for sure. So if you have any questions about any of these

Arbor snowboards

 Jones and Arbor boards also have sidecut disruptions/bumps to help with edge hold in firmer condition, but not as aggressive bumps as Magnetraction.

I'm looking for a new snowboard after nearly 20 years of having the same gear.

My current board is a Burton Raven 161 which I bought in early the 2000's and it's been my only board since. It's so old, it pre-dates Web 2.0 so there's very little about it on the internet, except for buy/sell shit. I love this board because it's stiff, is a true twin and is fast, like very fast. My last speed record I hit 78kph (48.4mph) and I get there very quick. Even my buddy tried it and couldn't believe how quick it is.

I know the new gear is way better in all ways possible than my dated shit so I can't go wrong buying new but I have a fear that any board I get will be too different from mine, from a high-speed stability point of view and I'm either going to kill myself or I'll hate the ride characteristics.

I'm looking at the T-Rice Pro at 161W as it just seems to be a killer board all around but I'm not too savvy with the new tech like C2 profile and the new building process. I've seen Travis Rice go crazy fast so I figure it's good at high speed, but news flash folks, I ain't Travis rice.

With that said, I've been trying to ride switch all last season and I'd like to stick with a true twin to keep getting better. I'm also going to start trying jumps and features like boxes which I tried last with mixed results. (3 months later, back still hurts lol)

Anyone with experience on the T-Rice Pro? I love the serrated edge tech and I would like a wider board than my Raven because I often boot out during real steep traverse's. I like the idea of any new board being lighter but I'd also like a stiff yet not too stiff board so I can learn butters. Current board too stiff but still wanting high speed stability.

Question about new tech, from an old rider

Hey squad,

I'm looking to get a new powder board that has a decently large setback stance. I have some knee problems on my back leg that make the powder lean-back even tougher than normal, and I'm hoping that something with a little more setback will help to alleviate that effort. My daily driver is a 161w slightly asym twin that doesn't have much powder float.

I'm roughly 6' 2", 180, 11.5 boot. I really like the idea of some of the directional surfy shapes that are volume shifted, but it seems tough to find ones that are also wide enough for larger boots. + it seems hard to search by setback.. In terms of my riding style- entirely resort for the time being, love to be in the trees. Small airs, but I'm not hucking any fat cliffs. Don't really ride switch much at all.

Powder boards with a large setback?

Now that winter is over and deals are starting to pop up on last year’s board models, I figured it’s finally time to retire my 15 year old Burton Air and upgrade for the next decade!

Old man here who recently bruised his ribs pretending he’s still a teenager on the last trip of the season, so my park days are unfortunately over. Live on the East (ice) coast, which means lots of hard-pack and groomers. Occasionally will be doing some backcountry runs or trips out West in search of powder. 

I’m looking for a board that can primarily hard charge straight down a hill without chattering getting squirrelly, not really the type who needs something super flexible or playful. Fairly settled on a directional board, but open to other suggestions. 

Friends have suggested the Lib Orca, Solomon Dancehaul, Ride Warpig, K2 Excavator, and Jones Stratos. 

Current board is a 153 for size, probably need something a little wider because my toes currently hang off the edge significantly. Height is 5’10 and weight range is roughly 145-160 lbs for reference. Let me know if any additional information required to help recommend the sizing as well.

I like to carve and I’m not a big park rider but in enough powder I’ll try to have some fun. Already have a backcountry set up so just looking to get a new all-mountain board this year.
