From older smartphones to the newest technology and any random gadgets in between, our testers found themselves reaching for this product when they needed reliable, fast charging. It features two USB-A ports with a combined output of 29 watts, including compatibility with Qualcomm Quick Charge enabled smartphones and devices. The product is easy to handle and doesn't stick out too much from the DC outlet, but its bulk is more noticeable than other chargers in our review. It is solid and well-built, and we didn't have any durability issues during our test period. 
One downside is that Qualcomm Quick Charge technology has not been widely adopted by smartphone manufacturers. This is changing, but in the short term, your phone or device might not benefit from this charger's speed. Furthermore, this product is not independently tested for electrical safety. Overall, we like this charger because it provides fast charging and good versatility. If you need two USB-A ports that are fast, this is the charger for you.

 And because it incorporates the Qualcomm quick charge 3.0, you can also use it for those compatible super speed charging. Unfortunately I don't have any of those devices to test that, but I assure you from my previous tests that it also supports those devices. I really like Anker's design and their attention to detail, specifically this one as I showed you earlier in the unboxing video

 So what I would recommend is if you do not own a quick charge compatible device, so that means you don't have an Android device that supports the very fast charging ability by Qualcomm, then don't pick this up. Instead, I would recommend picking up Anker's Power Drive 2, which does not have the Qualcomm quick charge feature, but is able to detect your device as with this one and output at the maximum charge. So you can still get that fast charging for all your devices, especially if you don't have any Qualcomm capabilities anyways. So that's definitely the better value and the right way to go if you're looking for a high quality card charger

 And even though the housing of the USB ports is a little bit wider than other card chargers, it is still not too big to fit in pretty much any card charging port on your car. As you can see, I do have a little latch here that the actual socket in my car is located, but it has no problems fitting in whatsoever. Now like I said, I really do like this card charger. I think this is the ultimate card charger if you want to be able to charge all your devices at maximum speed

 Here's the actual product, and I really do like the design. They have a little like, how do you call it, carbon fiber hexa design here, it's like a matte finish so it's like speed kind of thing, it's pretty neat. I really appreciate Inker's thought process in their designing their products. Inker logo right here, and here's the two ports, you can see it's blue to indicate the new speed technology incorporated, Qualcomm's quick charge 3

Anker Powerdrive Speed 2 Unboxing & Review

 The outer diameter (and the height) of the top of the adapter is kind of a chunk. It's physically the size of adapters that have a much higher power budget (~80W). Considering the placement of some aux jacks, I did notice that the size made the Anker not work in a couple center console setups, as well as an older car that had the jack at the far end of a small rectangular cubby.  Those issues while minor, may matter to you

Best Car Chargers 2021 - Anker PowerDrive Speed 2 Review

  I'm happy to report that reordering this same Anker dual port charger paired with Anker's Powerline+ USB C-to-C braided cable works extremely well now.  In hindsight, I probably should have purchased the Anker cable to go along with this charger first (same mfgr). The catch is that Anker doesn't make a high-speed braided USB-C cable (yet), and I wanted to see if I could get one braided cable that would serve both purposes (rapid charging and fast data transfer). I've learned not to use the PVC/vinyl/rubbery coated cables in the car or in my travel bag, as I found the braided ones are a lot more durable in the long run

 The catch is that Anker doesn't make a high-speed braided USB-C cable (yet), and I wanted to see if I could get one braided cable that would serve both purposes (rapid charging and fast data transfer). I've learned not to use the PVC/vinyl/rubbery coated cables in the car or in my travel bag, as I found the braided ones are a lot more durable in the long run.  Also great that this car charger does NOT have the cables hardwired into it! Makes it very easy to simply replace the cable when it goes out on you -- or like what happened to me with a prior charger, the hardwired cable's charging connector tip fell down into the snow/salt/water on the car mat during the winter. Perfect recipe for rust and corrosion

  So I returned both this Anker dual-port charger and the Veckle USB-C cable as the power-down issue also occurred once when using the original white Google USB-C cable that came with the phone (so I couldn't blame the Veckle cable 100%, although the powering off problem occurred many times -- approx. 50% of the time with the higher speed Veckle cable).  Anker tech support was excellent and suggested I replace it with another new one. Kudos to Anker for providing US-based tech support professionals who were both knowledgeable and empathetic

Great dual port charger

 I actually discharged it a little bit just to give us a nice, decent read. OK, so that appears to be passing every test I can throw at it. Two charging ports, nice sturdy design, reasonable size. I was about to say big, but I don't really think so actually

 Hook it up. There we go. The next test is going to be my Nexus 7. And yep, that's charging up there

 Basically it says on the side that it is max output 12 volts at 24 volts. That'll be from the QC3 logo which you can see there. Two ports, as you'd expect, we're going to have to go and get this in the car, aren't we? OK, so here we are in the car. Let's get this put into the power socket

Update 1 on 11/13/2018  I am updating the review based on Anker contacting me and sending a replacement device. I can say that while the product still does not make my iPhone XS Max ding twice upon connection it is certainly working better. I have not yet had a case where I found the phone not charging. I have also waited several days to update the review as I wanted to see how the device behaved with my phone through several charge cycles

I purchased this for charging phones in my 1980s Porsche. I mention this only because the vintage of the car means it has a true cigarette lighter socket, not a modern 12V power point.  The charging electronics on this unit are great -- it delivers as fast a PD charge to my Pixel 6 Pro as any home/AC wired charger I've ever used. Unfortunately, the physical design of the adapter is very poor -- it does not fit tightly, and has a tendency to sag under its own weight, and then work its way out of the cigarette lighter socket

 It might be fine for a modern car with a dedicated (non-CLA) 12v power point, but I can't really recommend it for real-world use in old cars with actual cigarette lighter sockets. I have no such fitment problems with the older (non-PD) Anker charger I was using before. That one charged my phone slowly, but the connection to the socket is rock solid.  I'm going to keep this one for emergency use if my phone dies while I'm out somewhere and I need to get a decent level of charge back into it quickly while parked, but my older Anker charger is going to remain the main one I use while driving -- if the car's in motion, I need a secure connection that I don't have to worry about while driving more than I need the fast charge

Delivers great charge rate, if it will stay plugged in

 Luckily the charger I bought before this one was a cheapy ($10 or less), so not many tears lost. This charger + Apple's MagSafe charger + a RAM mount articulated arm + RAM MagSafe adapter = my phone charging system for my car. RAM doesn't sell the MagSafe adapter on Amazon--has to be ordered from their website.
