 I also realized that I haven't talked that much about the rain pants. I know this video is also about the rain pants, but I just think the jacket is the more important piece of gear. So with the rain pants, they are super minimal. They don't have any zippers, they don't have any pockets, they are two ounces

9 ounces and the rain pants I picked up later in my hike when I only had about a month left. They are 2.8 ounces and they cost me a hundred and fifty dollars. So all together I have a rain suit that only weighs 8

 It's not raining too hard, so that's good, but also bad for the sake of this review. But I still have a lot of things to say about this. and you probably noticed this hole right here. So this only happened on Mile 200 of the Appalachian Trail this year

 NO Pockets on pants or jacket. No Pass-through pockets on pants. 2. Hard to get on over boots

 (No lower outer leg zippers make getting this on difficult.) 3. Material melts very easily.  Not ideal for motorcycle rain gear if you have pipes that this material can rub up against

Not bad... but not great either.

 It's never gotten snagged. I've sat on rocks. It's not ripped or anything like that. When looking at the material, you might think it's very lightweight and delicate, and you might find it similar to frogtogs a little bit

 For some reason I thought an extra small might not be long enough. The small definitely is like big for me in the waist and hips, but I prefer that because I always put them on over my shorts, my hiking shorts and so it's nice to have a little bit more room. I would say they run a little short when I sit. They tend to be high waters on me, but that's not a deal breaker

 However, these rain pants are not like that at all. The stitching is phenomenal. All the seams are really well done. When I've worn these to hike, I've actually climbed over many logs past sticks and areas where I thought maybe this lightweight material would get snagged

 It's a three-layer material that has tricot lining to wick away the moisture from your skin, which is great when it's raining. The outer surface is treated with C6 water repellent. so they are super water repellent. So some of the features are that they have a cinch cord for the waist

Zpacks Vertice Rain Pants Review

 The length of the jacket comes to the middle of my butt and has two bottom adjustments to keep the jacket snug at the bottom. Arm length is just right, long enough to not pull up when you stretch out your arm and the expansion cuffs are snug enough. The hood has three button outside the collar in the back and the lower front edges felcro into slots in the storm collar (really like that) which should perform well riding an ATV in the rain. The hood is not extra large and doesn't extend far enough in front to keep rain off my glasses, but it is large enough to wear a ball cap underneath and includes a draw string for keeping the hood snug

The fit: I ordered the medium and at 5' 8 1/2" and 172 lbs, it fits as expected. I wanted something that I wouldn't be 'swimming' in and still have enough room for maybe a heavy shirt or sweater and a pair of jeans underneath. I stretch the tape around the waist at my navel to 39" (old man paunch) and find sufficient room to pull the pants up that high, which I need to do to get the length to around a 30. There's still enough stretch left that jeans and a shirt fit ok

  Material: It's a type of plastic, a bit stiff and a little noisy, but not a deal breaker for hunting (hunting in the rain isn't quiet to begin with). Not just water resistant, water proof, so sitting on something wet doesn't seep through. Since it is a type of plastic, don't put a lot in the 'breathable' part of the description, I'd say it's better than the pure plastic of the cheaper rain gear but it'll still get you sweating if you do much work while wearing. There is no comfort lining so wearing with a short sleeve shirt underneath could become a bit irritating, but not unbearable

Fit, construction, material: Pros and Cons but overall a good value.

PRO: 1. Waterproof. 2. Ordered two sizes large than normal, plenty of breathing room, flexibility, etc

 The only wet was the cuffs of my pants that slipped outside the bottom of the pants. Seriously impressive. These are now my go-to. Easy to pack on the bike, and will help extend my summer riding gears temp ranges, possibly into the upper 50's if I need a windbreaker

 Even motorcycle specific rain suits aren;t much better, easy to tear, etc. So, Why bother spending $100+ on something that's probably going to leak anyway. So I get the Toggs. Riding into southern Mississippi, I hit a storm

 The girth of the midsection is 48 inches from chest to bellybutton. Yes it's that short. So much for showing my hourglass figure. Fortunately, I can hike the hippily pants up a few since there's room for a basketball in the crotch
