Zpacks Duplex vs Exped MegaMat 10

I want bug protection and rain protection because I don't like bugs (f ticks) and sleeping out gives me the creeps sometimes, so not really into the tarp and bivy. It seems to me like the Zpacks Duplex (occasionally bring my wife or a friend) would be a good option, being 19oz and having bug and rain protection integrated (not a tarp or bivy system, so it's simpler i.e. one piece)

The features of the mat, storage bag, and mini pump make using the mat very user friendly. The mat self inflates in 10-15 minutes and it only takes a couple pumps with the included mini pump to firmly inflate the mat. The fill valve makes it super easy to customize the firmness once you're on the mat. Deflating, rolling, and storing the mat in the bag are very easy and frustration free

\- I like a larger space away from flies and mossies in Oz to hang out and read at the end of the day if required. Also if holed up avoiding rain the extra space is nice.

One thing about the Megamat DUOs is they have a VERY large pack size and are quite heavy. The other thing about the Megamat is their very high R values can be a bit overwhelming in hot weather, so for hot clinates you might want to consider the megamat 7 instead of the Megamat 10 or 15. Arizona of course can be very hot or cold right cold depending on the area of the State and elevation.

So I won't go into any more specs on it because I'm sure you can find a lot of information out there about it. Let's talk about my opinion of this ten...

This is a car camping mattress, not a backpacking mattress. The size is simply too bulky to backpack. However, for heavier camping or overnight guests at home it is far superior to any standard inflatable camping-style mattress. The self-inflating foam does give it good insulating properties and its 4 inch thickness means you can sleep on your side
