 I was looking for a compact package that eight doesn't compromise on sound fidelity and b won't break the bank. I mainly chose a pair of studio monitors over typical speakers because i want a flat, a neutral profile which normally don't get with regular computer speakers. The HS five comes in two color options available in all white or black, with white wool fulfills priced at 199. Each showing a four hundred bucks is definitely not cheap but believe it or not

 The high trim function allows you to just the trouble to either plus to 0 or minus 2 TB and lastly, the bottom is power, switch in a sequence so far, excellent, build quality check, great design check, but what good is the H is 5 v, the sound Doesn'T live up to the legendary Yamaha me? Luckily, the smallest brother in the HS line delivers. However, if your bass head, you can either opt for the HS, 7 or HSA. I need to hear the audio as accurately as possible, so the flat and neutral frequency is very much appreciated.  This monitor has an extremely clean and modern design, which is something with a fan on. There are no bulbous curves anywhere, but instead you have clean and sharp edges in the front that one-inch tweeter resides on top behind a mesh grille and a five inch woofer on the bottom. They'Re, independently amplified sending 25 watts to the tweeter and 45 watts to the wool fur for total combined 70 watts per monitor, speak in the front. I wonder if it's a coincident, that it resembles BBA from Star Wars

Yamaha HS5 Review - Best Studio Monitor For the $$$!

 Prior to this it always sounded like the sound was coming from the upper left of my desk cabinet, whereas after adding the second sub the sound is more centered in the soundstage. The addition of the second sub did not drastically improve sound quality. Any improvement, if there is one, is slight.

 I do not feel that the crossover is great between the sub and the monitor frequencies.  The second sub I received has some slight alterations as it is a newer version purchased at a later date than the first. It also sounds different/responds to different frequencies as demonstrated by a frequency test I performed in Ableton, so be aware that not all HS8 subwoofers are the same.  Overall, I am glad I have two subs just to balance out the soundstage/directionality of the sound

I actually have two of these subs paired with two HS80M studio monitors. One sub alone outputs decent bass, but I feel the sub is not on par in terms of quality with the HS80M studio monitors. . dominated most studios I worked in. But I have been out of that game for a while and I just needed be free of the muddled mid range and booming distorted lows found in most consumer speakers. These did the trick, I imagine their smaller siblings sound good to but I wanted a pair that (at least for passive listening) would not need a sub

 These sound great mids and lows are flat as a board. Now my problem is I can hear all the crap in the cheap compressed digital recordings and I need to start replacing my audio collection.

For accurate low and mid range sound these are the best. I asked around among some of my sound engineering and musician buddies for accurate near field monitors and these Hs8s were what they told me to buy. I did a lot of recording studio work in the 80s and early 90s and Gauss, JBL, ElectroVoice.

Not the cheapest but you will not regret buying these.

 Once they're messed up, that's it. I already have some ringing in my ears from my younger days and wish I could go back and do those rock concerts over with ear plugs. Another reason is that if you mix with your speakers at high volume, it won't translate well to anyone who ever listens to what you're mixing at lower volumes. So if your sounds are ever going to be played anywhere besides a dance club, this is a legit reason

 These will not blast your eardrums will ungodly amounts of bass and treble very loudly like Beats do. They will, however, show you a crystal clear image of what your music really sounds like. And if it' good music, it'll probably sound very good on these.

I reference any other speakers off of the pair of Bowers and WIlkins 684 floorstanders that I have. Keep in mind that these cost half the price of those and I am just as impressed, all things considered. While these don't produce as "big" of a sound and can't pump out as much volume due their much smaller size, they sound just as pristine to my ears. Now, don't get me wrong, these can fill a bedroom sized room with plenty of sound to satisfy a reasonable listener

At lower volume they tend to lack a little bottom end, and at very high volume the clarity suffers and things start getting a little distorted and muddy. At medium to medium-high volume is where these really shine. If you're using these as studio monitors as they are intended to be used, this volume range is where you'd want to be listening anyways, for various reasons. For one, you don't want to listen at loud volumes for long periods because it will fatigue your ears to the point that listening is longer pleasurable and probably not as objective as is necessary

Well, I certainly don't have any real complaints.

 They're an ideal size, they look good, and they sound good. To top it all off, they have XLR inputs, which is a must.  Sure, they are not as good as super fancy tower speakers, but their clarity and overall range of sound is pretty good for desktop applications.

 So point your arms out to your two monitors and you can see you just triangulate yourself into the mix and get the correct placement for hearing a true stereo image of your mix. That being said, it's worth mentioning that it's also healthy to move around a little bit, maybe go out in the hall, so you can hear what frequencies are cutting through the mix. Is there one instrument, that's disappearing, something that's standing out too much all these things. It'S your responsibility to try harder and the real reason ultimately is because you want to show some respect to your listeners

 So don't let this be you let's check out these hs5s. Aren'T they just the right size? They each have an adjustable gain control on the back. I keep them right up the middle on plus 4db and i have them set up on these monitor stands and if you notice triangular bass and take a wild guess, while we like that, no because it reminds us of the golden ratio of monitor placement, the golden Rule of how to monitor the project you're working on right now, it's an equilateral triangle or maybe slight variation that there's differing theories, but in your actual real-time recording process. Your best bet, as a good rule of thumb, is to make your head one point of a triangle, and your monitors are the other two points

 Is there one instrument, that's disappearing, something that's standing out too much all these things. It'S your responsibility to try harder and the real reason ultimately is because you want to show some respect to your listeners. Can we just stop and thank the listeners they're always out there just listening and listening and streaming respect your listeners make an effort to hear. What'S really happening in your mix, i was failing for so long

 That'S coming out of these things, you want your monitors to accurately reflect, what's actually happening in your project and that's really the main point to keep in mind you're looking for monitors that have a flat response. So what you need in order to make your recording project a complete success and sound incredible on spotify and every other conceivable place. Your music is going to be played, is a way to hear, what's actually happening in your daw or, if you're recording an analog tape. Even better, how does the mix sound what needs to be changed? You'Re listening for the equalization uh, the effects you have running the balance of everything altogether, so it's helping you make the right decisions because you need to know what's actually happening, sonically, because what we're all trying to do right is to make the sound

Why Monitors Matter + Yamaha HS5 Studio Monitor Review

 For streaming, I'm using the Emotiva BTR-1 Virtual Copper™️ Bluetooth System ($80). So the entire system is the monitors, the BTR-1, two RCA cables with TRS adapters, and of course phone, iPad, etc. No CD player, no turntable, no power amp and pre-amp. Nothing more

 I feel bad, because I own many, many thousands of $$$ of super-high-class audio gear. And I CAN tell the difference. But how often are we at that level of "critical listening" .

I produce a prerecorded Internet radio show and have been upgrading my studio the past few months. One weak point has been the monitors I had been using, which really were not studio monitors--they were Logitech multimedia speakers. They are good in their own right, but I finally got tired of fiddling around with volume because the output to them from my mixer was too much. Hence, upgrading with real studio monitors

 I had rated them at four stars originally because one monitor developed a static clicking sound, even with nothing attached. What I discovered was that the source was a nearby wifi router, less than a foot away. I repositioned the nearest router antenna and the noise went away. Unfortunately I had already kicked off a replacement from Amazon and turned it right around upon arrival

 You can really gauge of what the audio quality is going to sound like, so this makes it a lot easier to post-production to go in and tweak it when you're using these monitors for general use. They do sound really good. So when you listen to music or just a TV show, you turn all the way and they do get pretty loud. Now the bass isn't overwhelming

 So. I hope that helps to clear things up now: let's dive right back into this review, I've been able to test and review the yamaha HS 5, sir, over two months now, so I've been able to get a pretty good understanding what these speakers have to offer and What they're capable of doing my first impression of seeing these speakers is they look absolutely great, especially on a white desk. It really does make it pop and the build quality on this is really good. It'S really strong in, I know nothing's going to happen to it and they're gon na last a really long time, and they should, because I'm putting a pretty good penny from these speakers coming about $ 200, a monitor so total for the setup you can be looking About 400 bucks, but that's not it, because you're always going to need an audio interface such as my scarlett 2i2

So, let's get started before we get started with the review. I just want to adjust a question that I know I'm gon na get in that's. Why do people call speakers monitors? So the speaker is designed for general listening and we just call these speakers, but then there's also speakers designed for studio productions such as the yamaha HS 5's right here button, and these are moderating sound and that's why we call monitors

 Now this is what's actually going to be supplying what you hear from the monitors. So if you don't have this, unfortunately you're going to need one, because you just can't plug it in to your laptop or computer, using a 3.5 millimeter head jack. But since you're not able to use a standard, headphone jack, you're forced to use an XLR, cable or a quarter inch jack in order to sync up and play the audio now, this is a good thing, because your audio quality is going to be a lot better And speaking of audio quality, let's talk about Holly's studio monitors sound now the suti monitors give you a pretty flat sound, and this is good, especially when you're using this to added music added voiceovers for YouTube

Yamaha NS-590 is not really budget speaker, it can easily hit 1000 eur mark in good shape and sounds like million bucks. I have only NS-344 which was the budget option 40 years ago and is probably still and the clean presentation is just awesome.
