We have a small (this is much larger than I thought!) X-ACTO electric sharpener at work and it sharpens perfectly. For my home/ school-aged kid, I'd hoped the large, pro version would be the same or better, but it's not. I like a really sharp pencil if I have to use one. This cuts off when it's sharp "enough

I wish I could shove the pencil in there enough to MAKE it sharpen more, but it cuts off... it eats less pencil, but I prefer a sharper point than this delivers

Before making this purchase, I was concerned because not all electric pencil sharpeners are worth the price, or are able to stand up to the daily (hourly) use in a school, but so far I have been pleasantly surprised. My high school students like that it's quick and quiet, and so do I. I will not use this for any colored pencils as a precautionary measure to ensure the product works for as long as possible.

 I’m going back to school and I still like to draft my essays in my notebook in pencil. I only put good pencils through it so I don’t have issues. I see a lot of user error in the videos with negative reviews. Of course a pencil sharpener is not going to have the most sophisticated electronics, but abusing the thing doesn’t help

People wiggling the pencil around in there complaining that it doesn’t work, meanwhile it’s another a huge setting. You need to use the correct sized hole or you’re going to get a blunt stump! Putting cheap crappy pencils in there or COLORED pencils…these things don’t run on magic, they have moving parts

  I love that it has a triangular hole for tri-writes, which, yes I enjoy those for their comfort and tendency to stay put!
