I have allergies, and I also have three dogs, so I thought it might be a good thing to try. I have been happy with it. I guess I can't say any over-the-top things like "Wow my allergies are cured!" or "my house is suddenly dust-free!" but then I didn't expect that of it. Let's face it: my house is a challenge with the dogs running in and out and tracking in all the outdoors

I suffer from allergies on occasion and the dust in my room is definitely no help. I have only one window that i keep the A/C unit on so there is not much circulation in the room, but the purifier really helps to circulate the air and I know that I'm getting good air quality despite the lack of circulation in the room.

We did a lot of digging through reviews and Consumer Reports type publications, and settled on Winix 5500-2 as the best purifier for the money. It has multiple filtering stages (and one of the filters is washable multiple times before it needs to be replaced) and has a large air throughput while also being very quiet (these are generally the characteristics to look for in a purifier). Still, 1000 square feet is a lot, and you’ll probably want 2-3 of them, placed in areas where things are dustier/smellier. They are quite compact and not too noticeable against a wall

The air purifier works well. I wanted it for all the smoke and we are planning on having a pet in the future so we also wanted one for that. We have a semi open living/dining space that this is perfect for since it works for a 500 sq ft space. It is hard to hide because of how large it is

As for noise level I have it set on either auto or 2, I fine level 3 is a little loud for me. The blue light doesn't bother me. The only thing not giving this five stars is the remote had a dead battery. Once I put in a new battery everything worked great

I couldn't work with that noise for long periods - white noise from the air movement is great; this was just grating. Hey, Honeywell - here's a thought for you: spend just a little more on the motor & bearings you spec into this device and then actually put some effort into quality control. You were so close to a making a great product, but ruined it by penny pinching.

The carbon filter on the 5500-2 isn't worth it and if you want a carbon filter get a can filter and an ac infinity inline fan. There might be better options at the same price point though.

It is easy to open up the front for filter replacement - also easy to replace the filters and replace the front cover.

I have noticed a major improvement in the 2 weeks I have had this product. The display panel is very nice and makes it easy to use. The control panel also has adjustable brightness, which is a fantastic feature. The brightest level is a little distracting to me, so being able to dim it is great

I can see, and tried to get a picture of, the dust it's pulling into the grille. My husband and I also vape, typically with windows cracked for airflow, and this is the clearest I've seen my apartment. It sucks everything up and I can tell the difference in my air quality.
