I have allergies, and I also have three dogs, so I thought it might be a good thing to try. I have been happy with it. I guess I can't say any over-the-top things like "Wow my allergies are cured!" or "my house is suddenly dust-free!" but then I didn't expect that of it. Let's face it: my house is a challenge with the dogs running in and out and tracking in all the outdoors

There is now, at least, one room in the apartment where I can breathe without complications. Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to dish out for 2-3 more of these to fill the apartment unit with, so I'll likely be keeping one of these and returning the other (and moving out!). Though, speaking of funds, you can find these off Amazon for almost half the price advertised on the AirDoctor website if you just search around a bit.

It has multiple filtering stages (and one of the filters is washable multiple times before it needs to be replaced) and has a large air throughput while also being very quiet (these are generally the characteristics to look for in a purifier). As for noise level I have it set on either auto or 2, I fine level 3 is a little loud for me. The blue light doesn't bother me. The only thing not giving this five stars is the remote had a dead battery. Once I put in a new battery everything worked great

I own Honeywell HEPA Air Cleaners and Austin Air. During the wildfire smoke that invaded my home despite closed windows and doors I did not find these two to help as much as I'd hoped. Well, the Austin seemed to have a better filter by comparison, but both were loud and I was still reacting with asthma with all the "wind" created by the two units. The carbon filter on the 5500-2 isn't worth it and if you want a carbon filter get a can filter and an ac infinity inline fan. There might be better options at the same price point though.

I can see, and tried to get a picture of, the dust it's pulling into the grille.
