I found the F2 filter at my local Walmart so like that I don’t have to special order them. They were priced under $15 so I think it’s very affordable. My daughter has horrible allergies. This is the unit I use in her room because I trust the filter more

We did a lot of digging through reviews and Consumer Reports type publications, and settled on Winix 5500-2 as the best purifier for the money. It has multiple filtering stages (and one of the filters is washable multiple times before it needs to be replaced) and has a large air throughput while also being very quiet (these are generally the characteristics to look for in a purifier). Still, 1000 square feet is a lot, and you’ll probably want 2-3 of them, placed in areas where things are dustier/smellier. They are quite compact and not too noticeable against a wall

I was very surprised at energy consumption: 83 watts on low, and 166 watts on high. This is DOUBLE the energy consumption of a standard 20" box fan. On in another way, a 60w LED bulb consumes about 9 watts. Running this Air Purifier is like leaving 9 (low) - 18 (high) lights on all day! I have cats and they spend a lot of time in the bedroom, which then leads to a lot of extra hair and dander in the air. This purifier works wonders! I feel like the room and air has been so much cleaner since I have been using it. The purifier features several options with times settings, however, I just leave it on all the time. There are four fan blower settings as well

As for noise level I have it set on either auto or 2, I fine level 3 is a little loud for me. The blue light doesn't bother me. The only thing not giving this five stars is the remote had a dead battery. Once I put in a new battery everything worked great

Don't buy this unless you plan on replacing it every 2 years. It's noisy and then just stops working. No more made for Walmart products for me.

The carbon filter on the 5500-2 isn't worth it and if you want a carbon filter get a can filter and an ac infinity inline fan. There might be better options at the same price point though.

I used the purifier to cleanse the air our spare bedroom and I use it to get some cooking odors removed from one particular room. It is easy to use and to change the filter.

I can see, and tried to get a picture of, the dust it's pulling into the grille. My husband and I also vape, typically with windows cracked for airflow, and this is the clearest I've seen my apartment. It sucks everything up and I can tell the difference in my air quality.
