You will need to fork over another $100 to buy a sleeves/covers to reduce the heat coming off the 2 tubes. Whyntner should've have included those covers in the package it would have been cheap and good buisness for this company to do that for it's customers . Now the complaints: (1) The setup of the hoses and connectors to the outdoor area is a pain and the end result looks like a pre-school craft project. While the connectors to the unit are improved, connecting the hoses to the connectors is very difficult. They don't thread (no matter which way you turn them) and it was a very frustrating process that I had to set down and come back to a couple times.

Decided to purchase this unit after reading reviews on some of the more well known brands. This unit stood out as inexpensive and compact enough in size for my medium sized bedroom. This one was super easy to install (we already had the window kit in place for the last unit). I only use the outtake hose as I have no need to pull in (hot) air from outside. As far as noise level, it sounds like it’s working to cool the room/like a traditional AC unit - loudish. The energy bill definitely went up from its use, primarily during the weeks of August with heat waves in them (there were a few). My next portable AC will definitely be a higher output.

I contacted Whynter about repairs on the older one, which is out of warranty. It would have cost about $250 round trip shipping and repair, to send it to them.
