  I have seen a lot of YouTube videos on how to use a Weber kettle for slow cooking, and even though I got the pellet grill for that, I decided to try with the Weber as well. I will say that at this point, I am glad I got the pellet grill. It is very difficult to adjust and maintain the temperature on the kettle. Also, the air vent on the lid is directly opposite the thermometer

 If I turn the lid even a couple of inches to the right or the left, the lid sits cocked on the rim of the kettle, which makes it difficult to control the temperature. Also the nuts that hold the lid holder to the kettle interfere with the handles on the grill grate, so if you like to use the "cold grate" technique of searing meats, you will have a hard time with this grill, as you can't rotate the grill grate very easily.  The gas charcoal starter works great, and it is very handy having the table and the bottom shelf of the cart available to hold food and utensils while working. I also like having the charcoal bin as part of the cart

 It is very difficult to adjust and maintain the temperature on the kettle. Also, the air vent on the lid is directly opposite the thermometer. This means if you place the coals on one side and have your meat on the other for indirect cooking, and you have the exhaust over the meat so the smoke passes over the meat. then the thermometer will be directly over the coals

 One of the main complaints I had about the grill itself is that the body of the grill and the lid do not appear to be round. There is only one position I can place the lid so that it seats fully on the lip of the grill. If I turn the lid even a couple of inches to the right or the left, the lid sits cocked on the rim of the kettle, which makes it difficult to control the temperature. Also the nuts that hold the lid holder to the kettle interfere with the handles on the grill grate, so if you like to use the "cold grate" technique of searing meats, you will have a hard time with this grill, as you can't rotate the grill grate very easily

Do not buy the extra charcoal briquet holders!

just turn the dial, push the button, and you have flame on your charcoal. It lights the charcoal faster and more thoroughly than the paper method does too, so you reduce your startup time by a good 5 minutes. If you grill as much as I do this adds up. And if you are one of those people that use lighter fluid then stop reading this and BUY THIS NOW

I started with charcoal grilling on a Weber kettle and always loved it but wanted more work space. The Performer Deluxe has work space in spades, and I love it! This is a well known grill, so I won't get too wordy. As a summary for those with short attention spans, just buy this grill, I can't see you regretting the purchase, there is just so much to love. And now for the pro/con list:  Pros: Huge work surface is my favorite feature

 Push button lighting of your charcoal! This is a much larger benefit than I thought it would be. No more bits of burning paper and ash flying around, no more lighter, matches, torches, whatever..

Still the best, but there is always room for improvement.

 Number Five: It has a thermostat on the lid. How hot is that? It looks like it can go up to 600 degrees, but I don't think we're going that hot today. You can adjust these here if you want it really hot. If you don't want it as hot, you can close these down

 Number four is the ash can. It has an ash can underneath the grill right here so it stays in place and then you can just empty your ashes into here just by moving this to the trash can. and then when you want to take it out, you just bring this in here. You got all your ashes there

 Now here's the trick here. We don't want to burn anything. so we're gonna go ahead and set our timer here. We don't want five minutes, we're gonna do two minutes and then you hit the play

 [Applause] All right, this thing's up almost to 500 degrees so we're gonna turn it down about halfway there. We're gonna do the same thing down here. turn it down a little bit. Got a couple of filet mignons on here and a rib eye [Music] [Music] All right, so we don't want to burn that too much there

 There is actually a gas version. First off the assembly is very easy for this, basically to install the grips on the sides and on the top, the only thing you need to use is a phillips screwdriver. We actually took this to a tailgate and used it to cook some brats and hot dogs and burgers and everything went really well so yeah we just used the charcoal briquettes, as you can see here, and everything but yeah, it's pretty cool because then also at the End, it has kind of the tuck and carry lid lock, so basically the feet that you're seeing there just flip up and then they kind of cover and keep the lid on. So then you can just kind of carry it by the top grip there

 The setup was simple: it did a great job at the tailgate and it's a pretty versatile option very easy to get in and out of the car and take somewhere with you, whether you're camping tailgating, whatever you want to do, 

 The grade is a plated seal, cooking grate and you have plated steel legs as well, and they say you can get up to six burgers on there, which we did get on there and you can definitely get a good amount of hot dogs or brats on there. As well yeah overall, this worked great. The setup was simple: it did a great job at the tailgate and it's a pretty versatile option very easy to get in and out of the car and take somewhere with you, whether you're camping tailgating, whatever you want to do,

Good Paint Coating, Good Grills, Good Handles. A good solid, good cooking grill. Food is cooked consistently all over - no over-cooked or under-cooked parts of meat, poultry, or fish.
