And it's one of the polymer pistols that you probably want to shoot if you're thinking about buying a firearm in the size category. Now it's not a Glock 43 size

Walther PDP Compact

 Hickok 45 here, finally with a performance duty pistol from Walther.

 And gave you our impressions of this thing.

 So we appreciate Bud's gun shop sending it.

 The compact size is generally more appealing to me.

 And then of course, Federal Premium for providing food for it.

 And we also have an array of firearms out here.

 I'm not going to spend three hours comparing.

 So we appreciate the folks that help us out here.

 First of all, I'll get a couple things about it.

 Probably by now I know it's out in gun shops

 Unfortunately I got a couple of the longer magazines

 I remember the PPQ having a great trigger.

 Which you know I like if you've been around

 I was after a full size 5” pdp for a while and after running it back to back with a 4.5” I found the 5” to be nose heavy.

Now that its colder here, Im looking for a bigger size pistol that I can use at home and carry in heavier winter clothing (i.e. does not need to be tiny to conceal).  Something fun at the range would be nice, too.

The more I keep looking the deeper I end up in the rabbit hole.  METE SFt, or SFx?  Walther PDP (compact, 4" or 5" barrel?), M&amp;P 2.0 PC (4.25 or 5), CZ P10c or P10f? and I made the large mistake today of checking out hammer fired pistols, CZ 75 compact and Beretta 92X Centurion.  I was leaning toward larger than 4" barrel, mostly because under 4" is pretty close to what I already have in the Shield Plus.

I know the internet answer is "all of the above" but looking for help at least narrowing the list down a little.

 And the reason that's important is that under recoil, your gun is doing this. So that texture there, as well as the texture on the rear is really where you need it. And additionally, it has this little lip here on the bottom of the grip itself. Now Walther claims that is for aligning red dot optics

 We'll take a look here at the compact. The magazines themselves, the compact here has a 15 round standard capacity magazine. And then our full size is going to have an 18 round, so 15 plus one or 18 plus one in terms of capacity. And if you do have the compact, the full size will work in there just fine

Walther PDP Full Size & Compact Review

 As you probably guessed from the intro and the title, these are the pistols that we're

 This is the Walther PDP, our personal defense pistol.

 Basically, it is just an upgraded version of the PPQ, which I do have a review on.

 Some things that I think folks are going to think are better.

 Some things that I think some folks anyway think are worse.

 We'll touch on that here in just a second.

 But Walther did send these out just full disclosure for the review, and I've had them in now for

 I mean, I don't know, four or five months ago when everybody else was putting up their

 I just wanted to put a healthy amount of rounds through them so I could give you guys some

 good feedback on them and my experience with them.

 So with that, I suppose let's get up close and personal on these pistols here and walk

 through the features of them detail by detail.

 Going into the details of the pistol, we'll start sort of at the bottom and then work

 I suppose we'll move one out of the way just to make it a little bit easier to focus on.

 The magazines themselves, the compact here has a 15 round standard capacity magazine.

 And then our full size is going to have an 18 round, so 15 plus one or 18 plus one in

 The mags are marked Walther, however, looking at them, they look a whole lot like they're

 And if so, that's a really good thing because Metgar makes the best pistol mags out there.

 In my opinion, I've said that for years, I stand by that.

 One thing about the mags, though, that you can see that they are cut for ambidextrous

 However, our magazine release here is not ambidextrous.

 So if you want to switch it over to the right side, you can do so.

 Now getting into the actual grip itself, it is a, in my opinion, a huge improvement over

 The reason I don't own a PPQ is because of the grip texture.

 I just didn't like it and it moved around in my hands much too much.

 This grip texture here has a good bite to it.

 Even when you're out shooting on really hot days, it's not overly aggressive.

 It's not abrasive to your skin if you're carrying it inside the waistband.

 But again, they just kind of did it right and they made the front here more aggressive

 than the sides, which I like and the same here on the rear.

 And the reason that's important is that under recoil, your gun is doing this.

 So that texture there, as well as the texture on the rear is really where you need it.
