I personally have the Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt and I was in the same boat as you are when I was looking into getting a bike computer. The reason why I chose Wahoo over Garmin is because of its button design. The Garmin I was looking at was touch screens and if you could imagine using the computer while your fingers are either sweaty or dirty from riding it makes it hard to use. Wahoo keeps it user friendly and only has 6 buttons - 3 on the surface (functions button) and 3 on the side (power/home button/magnify)

I'm trying to decide between the Bolt and the Edge 530. I'm not a part of either "ecosystem" yet. For people who have bought either the wahoo or garmin, why?

I want good navigation, strava compatability and the ability to add power meters/indoor trainers and the like. Both seem similar from where I stand... any tips on how to choose?

I mostly just cycle at this point, but I do like the idea of getting a multisport watch down the road and would love to get one that paired nicely with my bike computer.

Bike computers: Wahoo Element Bolt or Garmin Edge 530

Wahoo Elemnt Bolt.  Started using it five year ago, took a break from cycling, started back up and it still works amazing.  Love it.  Easy to use

What device for tracking distance, speed, fitness etc?

 Still has poor GPS lock, slow to pair with sensors, and needs more amperage to charge

Auto Reroute has ruined a good product

Just got it a few weeks ago. I paired it with speed and cadence sensors in one bike abs to the power meter on the other. The process was straightforward and very easy.

 With a sleek form-factor and an easy-to-use ecosystem of device hardware and mobile apps, Wahoo has my vote once more.

 For the 2021 SBT GRVL Blue course, I pre-loaded the map and the BOLT served as a bit of a cheat-sheet for the race with elevation profiles, distances to cues, etc. My favorite view was of climbs where I could anticipate the summit and plan my output accordingly — maintaining the proper power and cadence. I wasn’t out to crush the competition. All I wanted to do was stay in my limits and comfortably finish the race

Wahoo touts the aerodynamics of the BOLT and it does look sleek and smooth compared to the competition. The mount is easy to use and offers an additional bolt to keep things in place, if you desire (I’ve never felt it necessary — even on the roughest rides).

 I wasn’t out to crush the competition. All I wanted to do was stay in my limits and comfortably finish the race. Having that virtual carrot dangled out in front turned out to be fantastic for me. Oh, after 7+ hours of use at that event, my fully-charged unit still had 50% battery remaining

 the maps show clear and easy to read. you can pretty much do what you do with your smart phone. strava connectivity is such a plus! love it overall gave 4 stars because my unit has already started to act up, in such when i turn it on it it doesnt register mph and says poor gps. have used it for a week and now having this issue

 Black color this product currently cost 230 dollars. But as of the day of this recording may 1st, you can actually do a 30 rebate, which i think makes this particular bike: computer, a fantastic bargain anytime. You can get a computer, this nice for under 200 you're, really looking at a pretty fantastic deal and when i first got this computer, i immediately wanted to take it out for a test spin. So i took my garmin edge 820 device and i put it where i think it belongs, and when i tried to drop this computer on the same mount, i quickly realized that these mounts are not compatible, which i found super annoying
