 And so I find 195 pounds, they flex a little more than I would like them to. I'm more of the mindset, I kind of like a little bit stiffer in the shovel, not too stiff, but I like to kind of go through things and I don't like to get that tip kind of blasting upward when I hit stuff. So if it's really soft out, it kind of doesn't matter, but if I get into crud or kind of variable stuff, I like to have a little bit stiffer shovel. So when Volay came out with the Ultra Vector and the Supercharger the last two years or so, I loved them

 Last couple runs were great. Went on some much steeper stuff, tighter trees, tighter trees for out west with a little bit of soft snow and kind of that firm underneath I was talking about. Everything skied really well, holds an edge great. I like the tail being a little bit softer

Kind of depends on your style, but I think the 104, if you had to go with one, this is probably going to be it. And that's kind of what they're touting it as is sort of this one quiver, kind of a true quiver killer ski, you know, that you only need one ski for all things. And yeah, so that's kind of where we're at with that, just to kind of give you guys a little bit of the features

 What's up Free Heel Lifers, today I'm going to be doing a review of the Volay Mantai Ski

 that's brand new for this year in the Volay lineup.

 I'm really excited about this one to go try it out.

 Just to kind of give you guys a little bit about myself, I'm about 5'11", I'm about

 195 pounds, I'm an aggressive skier and I like to get after it.

 So that's kind of how I'm going to approach most of the skis that I'm skiing, although

 I am fully aware that there's lots of different styles of skiing.

 So I'm going to try and always talk about it like that in terms of who this ski may

 be good for and who it may or may not be.

 I haven't skied it yet, but I'm familiar with the Volay lineup, just so you guys kind

 of know, some of the Volay skis I'm not as big a fan of, especially inbounds, the V6,

 the V8, kind of that lineup, they're awesome backcountry skis, they're softer, especially

 So I'm thinking it's going to be pretty great in terms of just like an all around ski.

 So I'm going to take out the 181 centimeter ski, which is 104 underfoot.

 So that 104 underfoot for the Wasatch, which is our main mountain range here in Utah, is

 So it's not getting into that 110, 115 range, which is more of a powder specific ski, 100

 underfoot, closer around that Ultra Vector that I was talking about.

 Kind of depends on your style, but I think the 104, if you had to go with one, this is

 And that's kind of what they're touting it as is sort of this one quiver, kind of a true

 It's got an early rise tip, like a lot of the voles.

 I think almost everything in the line kind of has that early rise tip.

 It's a little bit easier to see when you put both skis together, but what it does is I

 think this is probably the greatest invention for telemark skiers ever, because what it

 allows is when you're on your inside foot, which is your uphill ski, the one that you're

 dropping the knee on, this helps plane it upward towards the surface on a soft snow

 day or if you're going through crud, same thing.

 It's kind of, kind of allowing that tip to stay upward.

 In the past, anybody who has telemarked for a long time and has skied on a ski that doesn't

 have an early tip rise knows that we can have the famed telly roll where you hook your inside

 tip and you end up going somersaulting down the hill.

 So this is a key feature, I think, to having a great ski, not just for back country, but

 just kind of all around telemark these days.

 Some people kind of think rocker, non-rocker, and just so you know, rocker and early tip

 rise, a lot of times it's just interchangeable depending on which company is talking about

 But basically that means that's going to start going rockering up or early tip rise.

 So it's, this is, and I guess I didn't really talk about the tail.

 Tails a little bit rise, a little bit of a tail rise in the back.

 I generally like this because it releases the tail.

 It makes it kind of, I like to call it smeary.

 So on soft days, I like that because I can kind of dish off some speed here and there

 It's not like a flat tail stiff race ski or something like that where you get in and you're
