I was looking for a sturdy low top hiker that was comfortable, light weight and stylish (for going to dinner) I wanted something that I could wear for touring the cities as well as on a 12 mile Great Wall adventure.

They have a clean look similar to styles I have enjoyed for the past twenty years. Even though they are wide they do not appear especially chunky in fact they look similar in width from above to other similar not wide hiking shoes, but these have more room inside.

Now, I'm upset with myself. I'm dropping my review to 3 stars because they just don't hold up over time. This pair was used for minimal hiking and mostly normal, everyday wear. The rubber part that covers the front of the shoe toes area started peeling off again

But the support (thickness of entire sole) seems the best, and I buy them on sale. :)

If you are an active individual looking for a shoe that holds up, is comfortable, supportive, and doesn't look like clown shoes, then this may be what you are looking for.

Great tread, lots of support inside, very sturdy well made shoes - use them for everything not just hiking - they are my work out shoes and seem to be great - I switched from Salomon shoes to these.. a little pricey but they should last a long time.

Kind of odd since there are so many reviews that state they fit "true to size". My foot shape isn't odd so I rarely have problems fitting that size. I'm a bit peeved though that I have to pay return shipping. Also, the option of selecting "replace" for a larger size wasn't even an option with the Seller (Rogan's Shoes out of Wisconsin)

I didn't find that to be the case. Granted, I tried these on right after I completed a long hike, and my feet were a bit swollen, but that should have been the perfect time to see how they fit. I normally wear a size 10 street shoe, but always size up to 11 for hiking and running shoes. I found these to bit narrow and a bit short

The only thing that I can think of improvement wise it's if they were waterproof. Until then there is always silicone waterproofing spray and wool socks.

Outside in snowy and icy Indiana can be treacherous to maneuver and I purchased these shoes for that reason. Like others have mentioned, there is no break-in period, your feet are completely dry, the tread is great on snow and ice and they are incredibly comfortable. I know I can wear these if I ever go hiking, but I can also wear these to work. They are pricey, but you really do get what you pay for
