Japanese quality at its most glorious!  First, it was wrapped in four layers of protection: two layers of plastic, one cotton bag, and one heavy-duty cardboard box. The cotton bag and cardboard box are so well-made that they can be reused.  The quality of the leather is superior to products with ten times the price, and reminds me of those old Ricardo Montalban commercials advertising the "rich, Corinthian leather."  I write with a fountain pen so when I read that this paper is designed for fountain pens that closed the deal

This year the school committee decided on a good hardcover notebook. I suggested the Moleskine, but they are slightly over budget. So my question is, do you know of a brand of notebooks that‘s pretty good quality for under $15? 

I’ve seen many knockoffs, and most always feel cheap. I’m looking for something that still feels like a good quality notebook.

Cheaper alternative to Moleskine with similar quality

 The paper in the notebook is incredibly smooth and it works well with all the fountain pen inks that I have tried on it (J Herbin Perle Noire, Diamine Asa Blue, Diamine Twilight, PR Sherwood Green, Diamine Oxblood & Rohrer & KLingner Salix). I like it that the color of the paper is a very light cream (the papers in the new Quo Vadis Habana notebook and Rhodia Webnotebook are too yellowish for my taste). The notebook is excellent in almost every respect.

I love this brand for my writing projects. Despite being obsessed with my computer for my doctoral work, I still need a pen and paper. The only issue I have with this particular item is that it's a bit smaller than the CD 15 7mm notebooks. Otherwise, I love it
