I was torn between this and the Osprey Farpoint 40L. After trying both of them out, the Tortuga won. What’s Your Current Bag Line-Up?

 They really need to design a hip belt that is proportionately sized for this bag.  Still, there are only two or three other companies that make a bag that fits ALL these requirements. Others came close, but were either missing the pass through, or did not have attachment hooks for a shoulder strap, top loading instead of suitcase style, etc.

 At this price point if should be included • It would have been nice if it had a designated laptop-only section that you can lay flat on the X-ray belt • The included hip belt is over kill. This uses the same hip belt as the larger Tortuga Men's Setout 35L and 45L bags. They really need to design a hip belt that is proportionately sized for this bag.  Still, there are only two or three other companies that make a bag that fits ALL these requirements

My search has been to find a backpack that could primarily be used as a personal item, to be stowed under an airline seat. The bag needed to be sized for 1-3 day business trips or quick weekend getaways.  You know here it has really nice water resistant zipper, so it really feels like it's gon na help keep the main area protected against the rain. It has a really good capacity, as I mentioned earlier in the video. The bag itself is a 21 liter capacity. So there's plenty of space here to pack

 So Menaul has the carry-on 2.0 and the daily bag, and the two bags were kind of designed together so that you could put the daily bag inside the carry-on, and you know, as we saw in the videos we looked at for those bags, it works pretty. Well. The bag, the daily bag fits inside really nicely, and one thing I got to say about the Menaul daily is that the laptop compartment is fantastic

 I really like the system that it has here it's very easy to open and close, so the the clip itself is very short, so you can't really use this to unlock something while you're still wearing the bag, so you do have to unclip your keys or whatever You know accessories or tools you have on here, but it is nice that it just has that extra bit of organization to keep this item seperated or just make it very easy to grab whatever you have clipped onto here. So, moving on to this main compartment, the bag itself is a top loader. You know here it has really nice water resistant zipper, so it really feels like it's gon na help keep the main area protected against the rain. It has a really good capacity, as I mentioned earlier in the video

 Next, up the bag actually has a tablet and laptop seat. So you know here it has this kind of velcro loop attachment to help keep the laptop and tablet in place as you're walking around the city or, if you know the bag happens to flip over, they won't slip out of the pocket. While you have this attached and so first up with the tablet compartment, you know neither of these compartments is very padded. They don't have like a felt lining or anything like that to help prevent against the micro scratching and the compartment themselves is pretty

* The liter-independent-ish outer pocket and the tablet-pocket-turned-drop-pocket internal pocket affords juuuust enough organization for me. Mini medkit, bars and powerbank on the outside, and a small pouch for small things like earbuds, lip balm and spork on the inside.

* The harness and backpack straps are brilliant. The padding on the back allows for plenty of air to pass through while supporting the lower back and base of neck. The straps are plush and breathable thanks to the perforations found throughout. Whether hiking or urban exploring, the back harness was exceptional

Upgraded Outbreaker (packable) Daypack as Do-it-all Bag!

 Again, it’s important to note the lack of padding, but depending on the size of your tablet, you can also just about fit a case in this compartment. For extra security, there’s a Velcro strap that comes over these compartments to hold your items inside—but if you’re using cases for these items, it will not reach across. 

 As this pack is not compressible like the Osprey Ultralight Stuff Sack, so there’s enough padding on here to give this pack a comfortable carry even when it’s at full capacity. Plus, the padding is thick enough to provide some ventilation and breathability—which is always welcomed.

On the shoulder straps, Tortuga included an adjustable sternum strap, which you can easily move up or down to find the right fit for you. There’s some elastic on the sternum strap as well, which flexes when you’re moving, adding to the comfort. Plus, there’s also an elasticated band to keep the straps tidy and a small strap across the shoulder straps to hideaway the sternum strap if you want it out of the way. And you know we love a #danglefreeexperience

 So without a case, this pocket will hold a 15” laptop and with a case, a 13” laptop should fit just fine.

We walk away from the Rains Backpack with a few key take-aways, not least of which are the less-than-ideal shoulder straps and its fiddly adjustment, the subpar internal visibility for this black variant, and the interior pocket’s zipper that was prone to jamming. It’s not all bad, though, as we still think that the styling’s appeal still holds up.

Our experience with the harness system wasn’t the most comfortable—especially when the bag was heavily loaded. The thin straps offered no cushion and dug into our shoulders, making it tiresome to carry for long periods. Plus, the shoulder straps took time to re-adjust, requiring us to take off the entire pack whenever we needed to—a problem we seldom encountered in other backpacks with more typical strap adjusters.

Coming to the bottom of the shoulder straps, we seem to have a pretty old-school latch system here, that's very different to the typical pull and fast and ladder locks that are on most backpacks

 They both have the same features they both can fit up to a 13-inch laptop in their laptop sleeves. The main difference is their size and volume capacity. Obviously, the backpack is a bigger bag. At 13 liters in volume capacity, the backpack Mini, is a smaller bag

This bag is minimalist and waterproof, both of which I love. However, after a month or so of more or less daily use as an urban commuter, the material around the logo has started to peel off, revealing a lighter colored material beneath. I would have hoped it would last longer without getting damaged.
