Tortuga Outbreaker Backpack vs Amazon Basics Carry-On Travel Backpack

Though the Osprey had a better harness/waist strap system, but for the size of bag, the Tortuga's removable waist straps works just fine. Most times I don't even use the waist straps unless I know I will be walking for over 20+ minutes. Plus, the Osprey is unable to stand upright on its own (due to not having a flat bottom) and the Tortuga can. Thus, making it easy to put the bag down on the floor when not carrying it

The other important disadvantage of being such a tall and wide backpack is that it does not fit under the sit in smaller planes. In larger planes, it's really a stretch to consider this an under the seat item. I had to cover mine with a blanket, because I was worried that the flight attendant would not allow it under the seat. I used the Tortuga Outbreaker for years, but eventually I switched to a spinner carryon and backpack combo. Here's why:. Money stopped being my primary concern, and comfort became number one. I don't mind paying to check a roller if I have to, but using the rolling bag with the backpack slid onto the handle is so much easier and more comfortable of an experience for me

The straps are plush and breathable thanks to the perforations found throughout. Whether hiking or urban exploring, the back harness was exceptional.
