I don't like to have to charge the battery after about 15 minutes of use, and that's without using the brush attachment, which decreases battery life even more.

The dustbin is bigger than the one on my prior vacuum, and the debris falls out a lot easier, too, without getting wound up around the filter. This vacuum comes with a handy app, which I did download and clicked around on, but honestly- I don't see myself using it. The storage hanger was easy to mount and the vacuum is spring loaded just like the Dyson and super easy to remove. The tools click right in to place

None of the other stick vacuum managed to do this, although the Gtech AirRam came pretty close. (It cleaned up 90 percent on hardwood, 97 percent on mid-pile carpet, and 98 percent on low-pile carpet.) If you want your stick vacuum to regularly collect cereal or other large particles, the Hoover Linx is up to the task. I've read over some other recommendations and it looks like the Sebo Felix Premium is a good option. I really like that it has adjustable suction, since that would be useful for rugs, curtains, etc., and it looks like it hits pretty much every other point. Are there other vacuums that are better than it for my purposes that I should consider? Or that are just as good, but cheaper?

UPDATE 11/13/13 Well another piece has broken. We had been working harmoniously without the beater bar on our hardwood since Spring, but now a piece of the red plastic insert on the inside of the canister broke so it will not stay snuggly attached while I am vacuuming. Without that piece on, all the hair and big chunks get sucked into the filter area. The brush bar on our 11 year old Dyson also broke last week, so I am trying to decide whether to buy a new Dyson upright, or just keep the old Dyson for our hardwood floors and deep cleaning, and get a new Linx to use on our three rugs

Cleaning the filter and barrel is about the same, no less hard/easy, so just a matter of getting it done. Overall, I'd highly recommend this powerful vacuum for the quality, power and ease of use. I took apart the head, which is very easy to do, unclogged it, and cleared the brush. I also washed out the sponge filter at the top of the canister with a bit of dish soap, rinsed it well, and let it dry. I then took apart the rest of the vacuum, also easy, and cleared the bottom of the motor of silty dirt. The vacuum functions like new

Compared to hauling even a compact vacuum around our little house, this is a dream. I love it!

This vac is a lot more convenient than my main vac and it does well for what I use it for, but it cannot compete for carpet cleaning.

Filters can be economically rinsed or wiped off negating the need for frequent, expensive filter replacements. I only prefer that the optional pre-filter cleaning tool were a standard feature.

When I noticed the suction wasn't as good, I just cleaned the removable filter and let it dry. It worked as good as new after that. Also, you will occasionally have to remove hair that has accumulated in the dust cup. The cyclonic action tends to make it wrap around the "dirt cup baffle" as Hoover calls it

I have two area rugs in my home that are the popular “antique look.” They both have a raised design rather than a low profile and the vacuum head “skips” or has difficulty moving forward , but not when I pull it back towards me. I called the number listed in the manual for customer support, hoping that they would be able to offer some advice.
