A nice entrance grinder is a Timemore C2, which costs about 60$, depending on your location (I can buy it now from AliExpress for 45$ including delivery). If it's too much for you, then just gift a sole Aeropress with ground beans, and if your someone would like, one can buy the grinder later. First time Aeropress buyer - whole or ground beans?

I recently bought some coffee beans (Congo) from Costco, and it's a medium dark. I just brewed some now, at a course setting using my Timemore C2 and brewed for 13 hours at room temp. It tastes so vile, like burnt and ashy. I drank if after putting it in the fridge for a few hours

Simple design, seemingly sturdy material and assembly. The max version can hold about 5TBS of beans, and in my experience loose grounds and bean volume are about the same. Grinds in a reasonable amount of time. Mine came with a fabric storage pouch and cleaning brush

Would Recommend to a Friend

Had a skerton pro on order and cancelled at the last minute after a look at r/coffee. Went with the Timemore C2. Excellent for the price. Great grinder for that sort of budget

I just upgraded from my Hario Skerton Pro to a Comandante grinder and I've set up a cupping similar to what James Hoffman did in his video. I did a blind testing comparing the taste and the difference is clear as day, even for someone like me who doesn't have a developed palete or anything like that.

Going for a better grinder effectively unlocks the taste of your beans! It's the best investment I have made and I would 100% recommend going for a good grinder off the bat!

Just realized what proper grind consistency can achieve

 It’s a satisfying activity to grind enough roasted beans for a cup while the water boils. Though the static cling of the small bits of coffee make this a bit more challenging to clean, it's not difficult. Excellent materials and it feels nice and solid while grinding. Relatively quiet so I don’t stir up everyone sleeping or cause a cattle stampede (cue the scene from “City Slickers”)

 The burr blades provide a consistent grind every day. If you need to grind a lot of beans at a time you would want something larger and probably electric. I'm only grinding for a cup at a time, and it is perfect! I love the scent released as I grind my beans!!

First this a a very nice grinder. Way more quiet than the grinder it replaced and it performs much better as well.  The first thing I noticed when getting this out of the package was it's weight. This thing is heavy

If you aren't too OCD about the mess and trapped grounds after each use, you'll be happy with the machine because the complaints are mostly mitigated by other features and/or the incredible price point. And the stepless grind adjustment makes this is an ideal entry level machine with lots of room to grow for someone really interested in learning to dial in shots. This machine is a great value

Heavy, compact, quiet and affordable and awesome

 I would prefer to keep some beans in the hopper, and re-fill only every-few-days. So I have ordered a custom stainless-steel 5-sided (no-top) box (aka inverted tray) to turn upside-down and act as a sheath-like cover for the hopper (from one of the very-reasonable on-line metal machine shops), and some silicone pads to trim and make a push-down seal. I'll let you know how it all turns out. I am matching the mirror-finish of the machine itself, so I hope it all looks good and not "home-made", we'll see

 No need to hold the button down, the timer function shuts off the grinding automatically (just do a few experiments to dial-in the correct grind and the correct grinding time, both of which settings survive a power-off, the grind setting because it is a manual control, and the time setting because the manufacturer thought this thru ... you can even lock-out the time adjustment buttons so that no one can re-set your chosen time accidentally without knowing the magic button-press sequence to unlock, clever!)

. and when the snooty guests say "you shouldn't expose coffee beans to light" I can produce the custom-made metal part with a flourish and with my best snark say "if I knew you knew that fact then I would have left the cover I had custom-machined in place, I only took it off to expose these beautifully-roasted dark beans".

 No fly-away grinds at all (a constant problem with my old Bunn). Plus, as other reviewers have said, the machine is very quiet, compact, and looks very cool on the counter ..

A superb machine

 The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the fit of the closing tab at the bottom of the feed funnel. My unit has a bad tab that does not seal completely and is very hard to open and close. Not a major inconvenience, I just leave it open. Nevertheless, a grinder of this quality and price should come with a better closing tab

Eureka coffee grinder

Debated between this or the Baratza lineup. What made me settle on this over the Baratza were a few key features based on a video comparison from Seattle Coffee Gear.  The first is that it is quieter. Not completely silent, obviously, but much quieter than any blade grinder and audiably quieter than the Baratza

 It hasn't broke, but it is a little suspect.  Finally, the container. What were they thinking? The angled shapes make getting the exact amount out more of a challenge than necessary.  These downsides don't change the fact that it does a great job of grinding consistent coffee, reasonably quickly, mess-free (minus the default container being ergonomically wonky), and fairly quietly; all of the most important aspects I find important in a coffee grinder

Consistent, quiet, mess free results...with some minor inconveniences.

 The grind dial is labeled 0-5, but that means literally nothing as the dial can go all the way around like ten times. This was my first espresso grinder and I had nobody to teach me, so I had no guidance on grind size. Due to the dial's numbers meaning nothing, I couldn't find a starting point online either. Two months of putting way too fine grinds in, leading to extreme channeling, leading me to spend hundreds on new baskets, expensive calibrated tampers/distributes, and a naked portafilter

Grind dial is extremely annoying. Recommend 1.5 on second rotation for espresso
