First things first, let’s take a look at this pack’s external pockets, starting with the large pocket on the front. We’ve been keeping the essentials like our keys, wallet, and a pair of headphones inside for easy grabbing-and-going while we’re on the move, and its bright liner makes everything inside easy to spot. We do wish the zipper for this pocket were on the opposite side, as we’re typically slinging bags around our right side when reaching inside, but your mileage may vary.

It's not so small that I can't fit anything I need, but isn't cumbersome to pack along. The buckles and materials are sturdy and work great; the material is stiff at first but now that I've used it a bit, it's starting to wear in (there's a cinch under the buckle flap and it took a few times to get that to cinch just a little faster than when it's brand new). I really like the smaller zipper pouches on the top of the flap and on the bottom of the front- it is perfect cell phone or snack sized. I can even put a water bottle or two in the side pockets! The only limitation I have for commuting sake is that my square lunch box doesn't fit in perfectly (if I had something that needed to be placed upright to prevent doing it wouldn't be able to do that), however, if I had more of an upright lunchbox, this wouldn't be a problem
