This thermometer feels very sturdy, has a button to release the probe to measure temperatures and a light on/off button to illuminate the display screen which is a nice feature if you're outdoors grilling or in a darker kitchen. I tested the ThermoPro out last night while roasting a whole chicken in the oven- it worked quickly and displayed the internal temp of the chicken right away. No waiting for it to come up to the proper temperature. It does the job and feels like it would hold up well so I'd recommend it

But the buttons SHOULD have been labeled MIN and SEC (like most kitchen timers) because that is how they worked. So you can time for up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds. That's a pretty glaring flaw in ThermoPro's process and production. 99 minutes isn't enough time for a lot of dishes, but I can live with it because it makes this type of cooking so simple

The ThermoPro took maybe a second or 2 longer to actually come up to temp, but 2 seconds when comparing the price is not bad at all! The ThermoPro also has a skinnier build, and built in magnets for easy storage and retrieval from a nearby fridge. As for longevity, Im not sure yet, as I've only been using the ThermoPro for about a week. But so far, I am super impressed, especially for the price!

This time, the roast was medium well on the ends and medium rare in the middle! Instead of spending her time checking the temperature of the roast often with her old meat thermometer, she was able to enjoy her time with the family gathered in the family room while the roast was cooking thanks to the portable readout! This is a great gadget to have and very reasonably priced! I'm sure she'll find many more uses for it, too! But to see my parent's excitement over finally perfecting their prime rib roast was well worth the price of admission! I would definitely recommend this gadget for anyone that likes to cook! I ordered the straight probe, and so far it has held up much better. Based on my ex[eriece, I recommend this thermometer, but with the straight probe, not the angled one that is shipped with the device. I like this thermometer so much, I ordered one for my brother, as a gift, but I purchased a spare (straight) probe from third party, because i didn't have confidence in the one the thermometer comes with. I figured out the problem. The stainless steel braided cover over the 2 tiny wires inside has to be kept from contact with the grill body, The coating of the wires inside will melt and the wires will touch and give the HHH code on the screen. Use a piece of aluminum foil or something to keep the wire insulated. Also, Only the very TIP is needed for checking temperature so don't worry about burying the probe into the meat
