Steelcase Think vs Steelcase Amia

The mesh back is reasonably comfortable, and while the seat is quite firm, it's not the worst thing I've spent hours on. Something softer for the seat and armrests would be nice; it's pretty cheap of them to go with common everyday seat foam and fairly hard rubber. One thing I'm sorely missing is a tilt function for the seat. It feels, to me, like it's tilted forward slightly - a feeling that worsens when leaning back, it feels like you'll slide out of the chair - and there's no way to adjust it

I considered another one, a Workpro 9000, but ultimately smartened up to the prevailing winds here and just put in an order for a remanufactured Steelcase Amia with extra foam through Crandall. It is way too stiff and the bottom part does not have enough cushioning. My back and bottom started hurting after several days of using this chair. At first the swiveling, non-lockable arm rests did not bother me, but soon became a pain in that they always move, even when I'm sitting down working. The chair is heavy to move, so you have to move it from the back support, and not the arms as they will swivel and move

The one I bought was actually the cheapest one of them and the seller wouldn't budge on the price. It's kind of beat up and I've honestly seen chairs in better condition here for 400-600 usd. Also it's kind of funny since I bought a steelcase think v1 in good condition for 75 euro. Maybe I should have just bought new but I can't really afford to and I want to prevent my back pains from getting worse asap

It has been tough finding a reasonably priced chair that's right for my size that has all adjustments like [Amia or other Steelcase

I love my Think chair. I first used one when I worked at an office which had these chairs for all the employees, and picked one up for myself when I left. I've been using it around 10 hours a day for the last five years and beyond some give in the springs/plastic which support the back it still performs great. If you can find this chair for under $400, or spend an extremely long period of time in your chair on a daily basis like myself, I would suggest this chair

It took about three months for the cushion on the cheap chair to give out. The cushion on the Amia lasted about four months. Yes, only one month longer than a chair that cost $140. Now it's effectively useless

Since I am quite busy in my home office that means sitting in a backless chair until I have time to put it back together. This version has absolutely no lumbar support. I bought a lumbar support pillow but that does not work at all with this chair. Ditto to adding a foam cushion to the hard seat
