 . . the spring for the blade advance setting lock is very weak so it is hard to tell were the notches are. It takes a knack and practice to even find one consistently and it is not quick

 * It rattles a lot * Three blade settings with a slight extension on the forth but that is to remove the blade using the side blade release button.  The "Pro-Grade" * It is a very substantial box knife * It is "defend your castle from invaders" substantial (if it is a small castle and there are only half a dozen invaders ). * As you can see from the photo it is way larger. If you are wearing gloves and can't hang onto a smaller box knife the Pro is made with you in mind

Hard to improve on this

 so if you don't like fiddling with the knife, this is probably not the knife for you. But every time you want to access that blade storage while I've got it open here guys, you're gonna have to unscrew this knife and you're gonna have to reset your retractable button and make sure it's all lined up. But once it is, go ahead and put your screw back in, get your knife closed up, and then you've got your retractable knife and you've got a few different positions as you retract the knife up and down that you can lock into. If you want to get up to that top position, just hold the the button down, slide it up and back, and if you've got extra blades in there, you're gonna be able to hear them in this knife

 so I would opt for that position. But once you've got your knife positioned properly, pop the cover back on and then get the knife screwed shut. and once you've got your, you're screwing there tightly. This is your knife guys

 and let's go ahead and get this knife open. see if we got the screw out far enough. We'll get the packaging off the Stanley Classic 99 retractable knife. Get that open, Get the packaging off

 Not to be outdone I wanted to get him a fixed blade this year but with Case knives you are kind of limited. I wanted to stick with American made knives so I thought why not the standard for American fighting knives..

This knife is nice, really nice

Bank vault solid! The steel holds its edge after several hard tasks and touches back up (with a diamond stone) to a razor. The handle is slimmer than a standard Ka-Bar USMC, so it swims around in the sheath (which I suspect was designed to fit the standard Ka-Bar, not this one) and I think most fans of this design would rather have a thicker handle. However, the heavier pommel is a plus and the abbreviated cross guard is very adaptable to various hand positions. You can't go wrong here

  In one of the old Bill Mauldin WWII cartoons, there's a joke about soldiers throwing the jokers out of their card decks to conserve weight. Anyone that has LIVED out of a backpack for extended periods of time gets that. If it were not intended for a soldier to wear all day long, day in and day out, I'd say go with a thicker sheath. But honestly, after a point, extra thickness is just more than a soldier wants

It's thick enough for sturdiness, but if it were any thicker, that would just be added weight. Anyone who has had to lug everything around on their back, doesn't want any more weight than necessary

Exactly What I Wanted

 I don't recommend this knife for that reason. I'd recommend getting a Ontario RAT 7 instead..

Perfect.... It's a Ka-Bar

The metal in this knife is very soft. When sharpening the edge keep till bg from side to side. It also feels very light and low carbon. I am a barber and sharpen my personal and professional straight razors by hand so I know the feel of metal and how to sharpen a blade
