Sony SRS-XB13 vs KEF LS50W

The Sony is smaller and is more likely to fit in a standard-size cup holder. This small Bluetooth speaker has a built-in carrying strap that's longer than that of the Ultimate Ears, making it easy to attach to your bag or somewhere in your cart. Its sound profile is a little boomy, adding a bit of extra bass to the mix, while its balanced mid-range ensures vocals and lead instruments are clearly and accurately reproduced in the mix. It also has fantastic directivity, resulting in a wide and open-sounding soundstage

You may want a larger sub for a larger room, but I'd very much recommend staying with a sealed box design and tuning the levels and placement carefully, as it's going to be pretty easy to ruin the careful tuning of these speakers with an overpowering, boomy bass line. (Unless that's your thing, in which case, go for it!) The only problem, which is proving to be increasingly serious, is the software support. Right now I'm dealing with an issue where, after being powered on, the LS50 system outputs much to strong of a signal to the subwoofer. This is fixed the moment I adjust the volume on the LS50s or the computer connected to them, but I frequently forget and am startled the moment a strong bass line kicks in (quickly jumping up to tap the volume controls before I start figuratively rattling my neighbors' windows)

As a wireless speaker that connects to your wifi network to stream dlna or Tidal (only two options available at this time) this speaker set is absolutely pathetic. Buffer times are quite long and there is no gapless playback. Song to song times are 5-10 seconds or more. You can get fuller-sounding audio in a relatively portable design, but it’ll cost more. If you're willing to spend $150, the Marshall Emberton delivers the best sound quality for the size. For $100, meanwhile, there's the Sony SRS-XB23, which is a nice step up in terms of price and performance from the XB-13, while for far less, we like the $40 JBL Go 3.

At this point I would recommend buying the cheaper / smaller LS-X and a subwoofer instead. But save your shipping box for returns and consider an extended warranty.

You can connect them to the network through wifi, and can also listen to music from your phone using Bluetooth, but both speakers need to be connected to the electricity, and there is an ethernet UTP CAT6 cable connecting both speakers. As of this writing, XB-13 is $48, while Go 3 is $49.99. Regardless of any sale price or discounts, I would still purchase the XB-13 over the Go 3.
