The Sonos Roam is the best smart shower speaker we've tested. It offers outstanding voice assistant support with Alexa and Google Assistant built-in and has little trouble registering your commands from far away and in noisier settings. You can activate your assistant with your voice, and you can mute the speaker's mic when you no longer want it to listen to you.

With its Trueplay room correction feature enabled, its sound profile is fairly balanced, making it suitable for listening to a wide variety of audio content. It lacks low-bass, and higher-pitched voices and lead instruments also sound a bit dark at times. Fortunately, there are bass and treble adjustments in the Sonos S2 app to tweak its sound. It's also amazingly built, with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance that certifies it to be immersible in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, its room correction feature is only available with iOS devices. It also doesn't get very loud, and there's some compression present at max volume that can affect the quality of your audio when the speaker is pushed to its louder volume levels. If you like singing along to your favorite tunes in the shower and rely on voice assistant support, this versatile speaker is still a solid choice.

In short, the sound quality is competitive with other compact portable models, but it falls well short of the sound of the Sonos One (which now sits just a bit above our $200 price cutoff) and the Ikea Symfonik Bookshelf Speaker, which is considerably less expensive but isn’t a smart speaker.

It's a good thing that this speaker is wireless charging compatible because battery life is not its strong suit. It’s far overpriced for such a small speaker that lacks sound. You are paying for convenience for those who already have Sonos speakers throughout their home like me. I do enjoy taking it in and out of house and having my music all playing at once but the sound is weak.  So i can see the rom being popular with existing customers who are looking to expand their system with another room of music, such as a bathroom or kitchen, with the option to then take out into the garden or on holiday. I can also see people who are new to sonos opting for the rome as a good, portable speaker solution and also an affordable way to start off a sonos home setup. So, let's briefly cover the pros and cons then, so i think the main pro for the rom is the flexibility of both wi-fi and bluetooth control. This sets the room apart in a very crowded market, as it's not just a portable speaker for taken away, but it can also be part of your sonos home ecosystem and offer another room of music

 At home as well, rome will also automatically switch to bluetooth mode if it's lost range of wi-fi or connect to your wi-fi from bluetooth. You also have the option to use voice control via amazon or google assistant, or you could use spotify connect or apple airplay 2. If you've got an ios device, the top of the speaker, which is rubberized to be more rugged and durable, features top panel controls such as play, pause, skipping track previous track volume, controls and a microphone privacy button for muting the voice assistant temporarily, the shape of the Speaker has been designed in such a way, so it doesn't roll around as easily as other portable speakers and the roam will automatically adjust whether it's in a vertical or horizontal position

Good Sound, compact design, integrates well with SONOS platform. Battery seems to drain faster than I would have thought, but still acceptable. One draw back to this bundle package is they don't include a secondary block and charger, which would have been nice as price point is north of $200 and the base is a little clunky to grab and go. Pretty Good!

It's a shame that you can't call on the voice assistant while using Bluetooth, but it's certainly not a dealbreaker &ndash; and we daresay the experience of using Google Assistant over Bluetooth would be more frustrating than helpful.

Following in the footsteps of the larger Sonos Move, the Roam comes with both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, which means it can work as a portable speaker as well as part of your wider multi-room Sonos system &ndash; and with Google Assistant and Alexa onboard, it doubles up a smart speaker too.&nbsp;

 So What you have here is a Bluetooth speaker, two tweeters to give you a stereo image from one speaker,, a nice big six-inch woofer, and an amp designed specifically for this speaker array, which is gonna put out about a hundred watts of power. We've been listening to them in here and this is quite loud and does a really nice job,. sounds like you would expect from Morel. You can also pair it with another one to have actual stereo sound, so you can have a left and a right Hogtalare in your system as well

 This is not super deep, it's only about six inches deep so it doesn't even take up this entire shelf here.
