TV volume controls work automatically over an HDMI ARC/eARC connection with HDMI-CEC enabled, or you can manually program the Beam to recognize the IR commands of your TV remote through the app (a welcome feature for older TVs or if you run out of free HDMI ports).

 Loud, low sounds like the banging on a door get enough low-mid power to sound forceful and jarring, but the bass doesn&rsquo;t reach quite deep enough to give the low sweeps in the background music the ominous rumble they could benefit from; again, a subwoofer would appreciably beef up this sound.

 This is exactly the sort of film that would benefit from sub-bass, and, unfortunately, the only option to add that kind of power to the Beam costs almost twice as much as the soundbar itself.

This is going in the corner of a 20x20 room with a sofa and loveseat about 15 feet away.  It is somewhat isolated from the main part of the house, so chances are we won't use this for listening to music or connecting to other rooms.

From how old our TV was and the lack of 4K movies in our collection, you can tell we do not upgrade often and are very budget conscious.  I think a smart audio purchase will really enhance the experience for the family.  But beyond that I could really use some advice.

Then buy a version that is quality, lasts, and not unnecessarily complicated.

I've had subs for my computer setup for years and found them to be a noticeable improvement.  I don't think we need surround sound.  I don't imagine needing a 5.1 upgrade for a long time (say another 13 years).  I'm not sure how noticeable a set of front speakers would be for our TV.

This would remove the big ugly AV amp from the room, give us a wide stereo image (and in fact, surround image with the One SLs as rears), give us smart speakers in the lounge, and hopefully give us very capable surround sound for movies

I have a similar set up with a wired Beam gen 2 and two symfonisk bookshelf speakers. If WiFi is turned off on your Beam, the frames will connect to your own WiFi network (shows WM:1), this can be problematic if your WiFi 2.4Ghz network is not good, or has a lot of traffic on it. If you turn WiFi ON on your Beam (recommended), then the frames will disconnect from your WiFi, and connect directly to the Beam (SonosNet shows WM:0)

So I got myself two symfonisk frames today. And as I finished to set them up and added them as surrounds in my living room setup (Beam+Sub)
I've now started to watch a movie and ran into the problem that it seems they are having connection problems. The sound hangs from time to time and even disappears completely sometimes. My beam and sub are wired and the frames are not. The router is like a max of 2.5 meters away. So I wonder again what in the freaking sh** can be the problem again that the are not connecting correctly. I'm asking myself why am I buying wireless speakers with the possibility to be wireless, when i have to wire then to function properly.
May someone has ran into a similar problem and can help me out.

Problems with symfonisk frame

At the center of everything is Sonos’ compatibility with pretty much every streaming audio service under the sun. The company has said it’ll add support for high-resolution audio and Dolby Atmos tracks from Amazon Music later this year, and hopefully the same will pan out for Apple Music. Sonos is also granting a longtime customer request with the introduction of DTS decoding, another feature coming to all of its soundbars in the coming months.

 And if you’re willing to spend double, you can get much larger, beefier Atmos soundbars like Sonos’ own Arc or alternatives from Sony and Bose. The Beam is dwarfed in size by the Arc, and its sound performance doesn’t approach the same level. But I can still see and understand the appeal of choosing this one instead. 

 And because it’s equipped with more processing power and eARC, the new model supports immersive Dolby Atmos audio.

Sonos’ addition of Dolby Atmos to the second-generation Beam doesn’t magically turn it into some mind-blowing $450 soundbar. But it’s still a very good one made better by the new virtualization upgrades and its seamless integration with your other Sonos gear. That, combined with the company’s impressive commitment to software support, are still the biggest reasons to spend the extra cash on this instead of buying a perfectly good Vizio bar for less. The upgrade to eARC makes for a smoother, more dependable listening experience without any latency issues, and the new design will look better in your living room

Dolby Atmos isn’t the reason you should buy it

 Only issue, when you change the volume, no indicator comes on screen, so I have no idea what level I'm on. Just nice to know what numbers I need to target when I need to adjust the volume quickly for when I need to adjust the volume.

The sound is great for a small speaker without a subwoofer. This was important b/c I have relatively small space/didnt want the subwoofer taking up floor space. It was easy to set up/get connected. Connected to my appleTV as well, so can control the speaker volume with appleTV remote
