 However, now it is easier than ever to build a compact workstation. CPUs have more cores and

 are more power efficient than ever, SFX power supplies are getting stronger, you have a lot

 more space optimized case options, and storage is getting denser. So, whether you're after a quad

 GPU setup for deep learning, or just a modest 12-core 3900X system with a single GPU, I'm going

 to show you the best compact cases that you can do it in. Now, the idea of building a compact

 workstation might sound counterproductive to many, and let's be honest, there is no real underlying

 reason that your workstation PC needs to be compact, unless you're transporting your case

 from home to the office, or maybe overseas for example. Otherwise, it is just really nice to

 Swift Tech Apogee to run the loop, and quick disconnect fittings to fill the loop up with

 coolant, you'll be running in no time. That way you don't have to fill the case up with a pump

 and a reservoir, and you can fill up that precious volume with radiator space. This case can accommodate

 an SFX 80 Plus Platinum rated 750W power supply that will power anything that will fit inside the

 case, and storage is plentiful as well, with a few slots for 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives

 depending on radiator mounting. Stepping things up, but still looking at ITX, we have the slightly

 bigger SM580. So if you like the NK-7 one, but you want 280mm radiator support and also two PCIe

 devices, then this is the case that you're after. Coming in at 16L, the Slager SM580 is all business

 when it comes to hardware. It's super high airflow, can be customized with a handle and

 different panel variations, and a large appeal for a workstation here is the PCIe bifurcation.

 This is the splitting of a single PCIe 3.0 X16 slot on your motherboard to give you two X16 slots

 with X8 bandwidth. This means that you can run even the most powerful GPUs out there with no

 performance hit on 8 PCIe lanes, and in addition to that another single PCIe device, whatever that

 may be. That could be a 10Gb networking card, a 4K capture card, or maybe an array of NVMe SSDs,

 any of those options could certainly be useful for a workstation. If you don't have use for

 an additional PCIe slot, feel free to use a 2.5 slot or 3 slot graphics card here instead,

 of which cards up to 325mm are supported. In terms of cooling, the Slager SM580 is going

 to be slightly better than the end-case M1. The support for a 280mm radiator here allows for

 slightly more thermal headroom. Cooling the GPU is also not an issue, there's plenty of ventilation

 for both intake and exhaust. Two 2.5-inch drives can be mounted behind the front panel, and if

 you need additional storage, you can use the mounting cages to store sets of 2.5-inch or

 3.5-inch drives at the bottom or the top. Now these next two cases are where things

 get really interesting in my opinion when we're talking about true workstation potential.

 Still under 20L, the Cerberus is the most compact Micro ATX case on the market that

 supports full-length graphics cards, and it is unbelievably flexible as well. How you configure

 the Cerberus is completely up to you, but by stepping up to the Micro ATX form factor,

 we do unlock a few more features that may be critical for your workstation. Although Z390

 and X570 boards are pretty mellow for this form factor, the X299 chipset now gets some appealing

 options from both ASRock and EVGA, but more importantly, Threadripper builds are actually
