SHIMANO SLX DC LONG TERM REVIEW! Is it worth the money?

For example, a shimano slx dc (180$) has 5 bearings but I'll be wayyyyy smoother that one of those lasting reels you see on amazon with 15 bearings (those are like 30-50$). The quality and placement of the bearings is what matters most. However, on the lower end reels (like this uglystick one) the difference in ball bearings can matter a lot.

Just like the title, looking at picking one of the ugly Stik Elite Baitcast combos on sale but found that it only had 3 bearings. I have an entry level lews laser mg Baitcast Combo and I believe it has 8 bearings? How is there such a difference? Do the amount of bearings really make a difference?

 If I had any cons about the reel it would be the drag. I wish Shimano would beef up their drag To at least 18 to 20 pounds drag. With that said I would still give it an A —

 But if blind folded I bet couldnt tell which was which casts same . Actually i find i get a little more cast distance with this than i did with the 250$ version

 I would put this on a you know, 140 Saint Croix rod or I would keep the ones they come with. They're really excellent rods. In the beginning of the season I caught a lot of big bass on these rods. I really like this reel

 If this is your price point then I would definitely grab it. It's worth every penny of the 84.99 that you'll pay for a combo like this. So thanks for watching

Pflueger President Spinning Reel Review

I have been using the president spinning reel for several years now.  This reel performs flawlessly with great casting ability, smoother than silk retrieve, great drag system and they hold up and last.  I normally use between 6-12lb test on these and it handles any of that size without issue.  For the price point, this is a great reel for the beginner or tournament angler

Smooth and Perfect!

 Its super quiet and very smooth and really has a good drag! I have used anything from 4 pound test all the way up to 10 pound test mono and 30 pound braid. When I say I used the old president I mean the one with the rosewood handle. I still use them for light saltwater fishing and they still work. So I have to say this is the best reel on the market for the price and is better than a lot that cost twice the price!

GREAT REEL!

You can't find a better spinning reel for the price. I have owned many makes that cost much more, but none have been as good as the Pflueger President. They last years and require nothing more than cleaning and lubrication which I do on a yearly basis.

A Great Reel At A Great Price

To be completely honest I was so excited to get the reel last year that I didn't notice that the model on the reel is "PRESSP25".  I ordered the 30  Fished with it all year. Then yesterday I accidentally bent the wire and now it wont spool evenly, the line won't reach the bottom of the spool causing peaks and valley which mean snags.  I started researching parts and thats when things started getting FISHY

 AFTER ONE YEAR  It is noteworthy to mention that I have Shimanos that are older than me and still kick butt.  Updating this because our OTHER 30 broken too. Same thing, bail sub assembly.  You get what you pay for

 My packing all says 30, invoice, included parts list BUT if I really do have the 25 then the wire assembly from the 30 obviously wont fit.  So now I have a reel of unknown model with a broken component that may be discontinued. AFTER ONE YEAR  It is noteworthy to mention that I have Shimanos that are older than me and still kick butt.   But to end this, YES, I highly recommend these reels. They punch way above their LIST price point. If you find them on sale, by them in multiples!

 At their LIST PRICE they are a bargain for what you get - a reliable, reasonable weighted reel, that perform well and does so consistently.  Obviously, at their price, they are NOT the best spinning reel one can buy. My Shimano Stratic's and Shimano Vanfords are certainly superior reels - but also cost three times as much! Whether they perform three times better than the Pfluege President model - the answer is a resounding NO, not three times better or even two times better.  For somebody just getting into fishing but who wants a reliable, decent quality reel that is going to last and not disappoint, I can recommend these most highly

  My only complaint with the reels is that they used to come with a spare spool - which was great as it allowed one to have 2 spools with different line on each, for fast and easy change-outs. My recommendation to Pflueger is to market spare spools (or of course, better yet to include a spare one in the box).  Secondly, I would like to see Pflueger indicate on the reel the size reel that it is, in an easy to see and visible location. Since I have multiples of these reels in many different sizes, this would be very helpful

Especially for fishing trips when rods/reels are broken down for transport - it helps to avoid putting the wrong sized reel onto a rod - only to realize this after getting on the water. Because the reels themselves, physically are not too different in physical size (at least at the 3000 and below size levels), this would be very helpful and appreciated (I am assuming by others as well)
