SHIMANO SLX DC LONG TERM REVIEW! Is it worth the money?

For example, a shimano slx dc (180$) has 5 bearings but I'll be wayyyyy smoother that one of those lasting reels you see on amazon with 15 bearings (those are like 30-50$). The quality and placement of the bearings is what matters most. However, on the lower end reels (like this uglystick one) the difference in ball bearings can matter a lot.

Just like the title, looking at picking one of the ugly Stik Elite Baitcast combos on sale but found that it only had 3 bearings. I have an entry level lews laser mg Baitcast Combo and I believe it has 8 bearings? How is there such a difference? Do the amount of bearings really make a difference?

 If I had any cons about the reel it would be the drag. I wish Shimano would beef up their drag To at least 18 to 20 pounds drag. With that said I would still give it an A —

I do plan on purchasing another DC reel.

 But if blind folded I bet couldnt tell which was which casts same . Actually i find i get a little more cast distance with this than i did with the 250$ version

 also bought this one feels same works same.. price differance prob just getting better gears than this one .

 um on the uh break here and see what that does. So it did cast a lot farther on 10. um I might bump it down a little more just just to give you guys an idea. I mean you guys will have to play with it all depends on how you're casting and what weight lowers and stuff

 adjust your brake a little bit, figure out how you like it over here. This, you really don't have to touch it. I mean it, it just. it's preset from the factory

Any recommendations on rod/reels or combos? I don’t mind spending a little money for good quality but don’t want to break the bank.

Baitcaster Recommendations?

 It sat in my checkout box for a bit where it kept dropping price until I clicked "purchase." I then thought to buy another. But, when looking at the next reel immediately after the purchase, the price went back up. Anyhow, it's going back

I received the reel today. After opening the shipping box the first thing I noticed was that the Daiwa box was not sealed. I thought "oh no." Upon inspecting the reel, everything looked fine until I checked the drag

 The handle is bent on one side causing interferance with the drag star. Then, I realized it came from a discount tackle store. Now I wonder what else could be wrong. One other strange note, I did not but this real flat out

Honestly Lew's aren't bad but I'd go with a daiwa tatula for around that price. Trust me when I say you'll thank me later.

Looking for honest reviews before buying this combo.

The Daiwa is the easiest to use. The brakes do the work for spool control along with the thumb. You do not need to adjust the tension knob.

Reel

Light baits, lighter rod, i would look at something like a Daiwa Fuego or Tatula 100. I haven’t personally been that impressed with the low to mid range Lews reels and feel like Daiwa gives you a lot more for the money. The SLX XT is a good reel, but I think the Daiwas might still handle the lighter baits better. If you want to go Shimano, you could look at the SLX MGL, or possibly find a Curado MGL or Scorpion MGL for reasonably close to your budget
