Best Baitcasting Reel EVER or Overhyped? Shimano Curado DC Reel Review

Awesome reel. I have it three stars on light weight because that it is not. However I still have three stars because it’s not supposed to be. Now don’t think it’s gonna feel like having a huge rock on your pole but the little extra weight is WELL worth having that breaking system inside

 I'm gonna take this jig, make a cast. Threw that thing on our 25 yards. No issues. Super smooth, really comfortable in the hand

 one is going to be the least amount of resistance, two is gonna be your braid setting. If you're throwing braids or mono, this is the setting you want to be on, Three is gonna be your fluorocarbon setting, and four that is your most breaking system that's going to be skipping. that's going to be casting light baits into the wind, so it's very easy. one through four depending on what your reel is, what your reel is spooled with, and the baits you're throwing

 So I'm going to spool these up I'm gonna show you guys some close-up shots of some of the key features. I'm gonna go make some casts and you guys keep an ear out for that. That notorious that DC Sound Let's go make some casts. Alright guys! I Spool up this first DC This Corrado DC with 65 pound max Quatro Braid I Tied on a frog and paired that up with the X Pride 7/3 extra-heavy This is a fantastic frog rod

 Conditions: skipping light baits, casting live baits in the low end, that's gonna be your setting. So let's start with 4. I'm gonna take this jig, make a cast. Threw that thing on our 25 yards

Shimano Curado 150 DC : An In-Depth Look

 That’s game over with any other baitcaster I’ve owned. The only negative I have is that the Curado DC 150 lettering came off after about 3 uses. Like it was water color paint or something cheap. Nobody’s perfect so I give it a 5 star since I’ve never caught a fish by how cool my reel looked

 However, I easily pulled out the backlash. I also hit some tall weeds accidentally on a cast and was impressed that I was able to easily get that backlash out also. That’s game over with any other baitcaster I’ve owned. The only negative I have is that the Curado DC 150 lettering came off after about 3 uses

I’ve had several low profile baitcasters, but this is my favorite performing yet. Super easy to adjust the spool brake by selecting settings 1 - 4. The spool tensioner is similarly easy to adjust because it doesn’t have to be as exact for each lure like with other baitcasters. I adjusted mine one time and just change the brake settings depending on how heavy/arrow dynamic a lure is

 I threw out a lure and let it hit without thumbing the spool to see the result. Most fisherman would tell You that line is done and you are cutting it off spool because it’s so backlashed if you do this. However, I easily pulled out the backlash. Is the curado dc worth it over the slx dc? I've heard the only major difference is the gears and I'm not sure that reeling a bit smoother can justify the price difference. 2. Is there any major reason to pick the dobyns fury over the st Croix bass x or vice versa?

 That when I learned the drag on this reel at 11 pounds suck!!!!. At $249.00 it might make a high priced crappie rig. If Shimano ever makes an upgraded drag too 15 -17 pounds let me know

 You guys will see the video soon if you haven't already and it they're taking massive runs and the drag on the strip is still really good. Really smooth. So I'm very surprised at that drag actually held up because normally on these cheaper reels the drags like made of a really cheap material animal, just like one out after a fish pulls really hard. but this one's actually still really strong

 I Mean it works pretty good for thirty dollars? I have some more expensive setups and it works about the same actually. So I mean that's pretty good for a $30 reel.  So I'm really surprised Shimano did that with this with a reel at this price point. Another thing I actually like about this reel is the drag on it's very smooth, has really nice little clicking sounds, and I caught two really big redfish on this reel recently.  I wouldn't really met recommend it for maybe like a charter captain who's just trying to get a bargain and buy a bunch of reels for his clients to use because I don't think it would be that durable if you're fishing every single day or a couple times a week even. But I would recommend this for a beginner angler, someone who's really just starting to get into fishing because if something goes wrong with it, you're only thirty dollars in the hole. not, you know, however much more expensive we will be. $100 $150 I Would also just recommend it to anyone who's just trying to get some cheap stuff

Shimano Sienna FG reel review

 I was thinking about giving a similar KastKing reel a chance. It is lighter, with more line capacity and much more drag. I kind of wish I’ve done that instead.

I can't complain much for a $30 reel but it does have some issues

 I’d recommend a lighter rod, 7’ light or med-light  action graphite rod. I’d do a  shimano sienna FG 1000size reel filled with 6lb PLine CX for line.

I'm going to start doing some fishing around Southern Alberta while camping (mostly for rainbow trout) and there was an old rod without a reel left by the previous owner of my home. The rod is a Scimitar graphite rod with the model SC-66MHB. It looks like it's never been used and still has the scan sticker on it. 

I've done some Googling but can't find much information to guide me, so please excuse my ignorance- this is all new to me.   I've figure out that the 66 stands for 6' 6". Is the MH medium-heavy? 

Will this rod work for fishing smaller fish like trout? If so, does anyone have a suggestion for a budget reel and line that would pair nicely with this rod? Thank you in advance for any help!

Help identifying type of rod and picking a reel

DONT GET THIS THE REEl Would not hold the line and when I tighten it it did not tighten it but it did not  tighten so line came out dont buy this waste of 30 bucks and line

 here. it's a Shimano Sienna 2500, not 2500 1000 right there. Focus. But yeah, this is my current trout reel on my setup, which is a Fenwick Fenwick Hmx and that is a Uh six foot light, moderate fast action

 It's only about 30 35, but this is hands down the best spinning wheel you can buy for that price point. I'm predominantly a Shimano spinning reel guy, so I've fished with this Sienna. I have the Sahara on another trout rod, I've used the Spyrix, the Stratic, different versions of the Stratoc, um, a bunch of different Shimano reels over the years. and um, while you do get what you pay for unlike the Stratix, if you go with this, you're really not going to notice that much of a difference
