Best Baitcasting Reel EVER or Overhyped? Shimano Curado DC Reel Review

Awesome reel. I have it three stars on light weight because that it is not. However I still have three stars because it’s not supposed to be. Now don’t think it’s gonna feel like having a huge rock on your pole but the little extra weight is WELL worth having that breaking system inside

 I'm gonna take this jig, make a cast. Threw that thing on our 25 yards. No issues. Super smooth, really comfortable in the hand

 one is going to be the least amount of resistance, two is gonna be your braid setting. If you're throwing braids or mono, this is the setting you want to be on, Three is gonna be your fluorocarbon setting, and four that is your most breaking system that's going to be skipping. that's going to be casting light baits into the wind, so it's very easy. one through four depending on what your reel is, what your reel is spooled with, and the baits you're throwing

 So I'm going to spool these up I'm gonna show you guys some close-up shots of some of the key features. I'm gonna go make some casts and you guys keep an ear out for that. That notorious that DC Sound Let's go make some casts. Alright guys! I Spool up this first DC This Corrado DC with 65 pound max Quatro Braid I Tied on a frog and paired that up with the X Pride 7/3 extra-heavy This is a fantastic frog rod

 Conditions: skipping light baits, casting live baits in the low end, that's gonna be your setting. So let's start with 4. I'm gonna take this jig, make a cast. Threw that thing on our 25 yards

Shimano Curado 150 DC : An In-Depth Look

 That’s game over with any other baitcaster I’ve owned. The only negative I have is that the Curado DC 150 lettering came off after about 3 uses. Like it was water color paint or something cheap. Nobody’s perfect so I give it a 5 star since I’ve never caught a fish by how cool my reel looked

 However, I easily pulled out the backlash. I also hit some tall weeds accidentally on a cast and was impressed that I was able to easily get that backlash out also. That’s game over with any other baitcaster I’ve owned. The only negative I have is that the Curado DC 150 lettering came off after about 3 uses

I’ve had several low profile baitcasters, but this is my favorite performing yet. Super easy to adjust the spool brake by selecting settings 1 - 4. The spool tensioner is similarly easy to adjust because it doesn’t have to be as exact for each lure like with other baitcasters. I adjusted mine one time and just change the brake settings depending on how heavy/arrow dynamic a lure is

 I threw out a lure and let it hit without thumbing the spool to see the result. Most fisherman would tell You that line is done and you are cutting it off spool because it’s so backlashed if you do this. However, I easily pulled out the backlash. Is the curado dc worth it over the slx dc? I've heard the only major difference is the gears and I'm not sure that reeling a bit smoother can justify the price difference. 2. Is there any major reason to pick the dobyns fury over the st Croix bass x or vice versa?

 That when I learned the drag on this reel at 11 pounds suck!!!!. At $249.00 it might make a high priced crappie rig. If Shimano ever makes an upgraded drag too 15 -17 pounds let me know

 It'S a really solid reel. If you have the budget to afford these reels, I would say why not if you're just looking for a reel to start fishing with, I would suggest the pro max guys. I really love the pro max. It'S got a great price for what you get for it

 It just doesn't feel as well-made and that's because of the price point that it lines up in the abou, Garcia Revo SX here is definitely made good, like it's a solid real guys when you feel this you're like it feels like a hundred and fifty dollar real. This is just for, if you put a new lure on you're gon na, want to set the drop on it, and then you have your brake setup here on this side, which every Abu Garcia reel has that right there, and then you got a little button here

I’m new to the sport (I’ve done a decent amount of saltwater fishing when I was younger) and will be getting my first rod and reel in the coming month. 

I was wondering what I should be shooting for in terms of length/action/power for catching the different species of trout?

I was considering getting a ~7ft, medium power, fast action spinning rod/reel. I’ve seen a lot of people with light/ultra light setups for fishing in rivers/creeks for brook trout, but I wanted a more all-around rod in case I wanted to target things like landlocked salmon/smallmouth bass as well. I hope this is the right place to ask.

Trout setup

The simple truth is a decent performing reel is 100 U.S or higher. Do not fall for the bullshit low-cost reels no matter how many people say they are good. A reel under 100 likely has no or horrible braking and performance

 Musky or big pike a 300 size or larger is the normal reel size. The Curado 300 is a good all-around option. At a mid-range price.

I’ve never used a baitcaster, mainly because I mostly fish walleye and smallies in Northern Ontario so spinning set ups seem to do fine. 

90% of the time, I use smaller lures, like 1/4 oz jigs tipped with leeches or crawlers, smaller crankbaits, Mepps, and lightly weighed wacky rigs. I’ll troll crawler harnesses too. 

I’m never targeting fish over about 12 lbs, and most are 2-6 lbs.

Is a baitcaster even really worth it?

If so, any recommendations? I don’t want cheap stuff but I’m not willing to go super high end either.

Looking to try out a baitcaster but…

 If you use mono monofilament fluorocarbon braid, you know different purposes for different baits, but this is an overall go-to setup. The abby, garcia revox is a versatile reel for many different baits moving baits texas rig stuff, jigs, chatterbaits topwater and especially paired with the seven foot medium heavy, fast action vendetta. It'S a really really good setup. We'Re gon na cast the abba garcia revo x right now and see what it looks like

 I absolutely love that we're gon na cast it out again. There we go and then bring it back over here and we're gon na retrieve it once again. So let's do start stops again pushing the spinner bait. Stop it pushing chatter bait
