This vacuum has plenty of power and suction. It was easy to assemble. I used it one time and it really did a good job on my carpets and bare floors. This was probably the best vacuum I have ever purchased

Our Shark Vertex is broken (I think it's the bearings in the roller) and I will not spend $100 to replace a head that will likely do the same thing in another year. I will be purchasing a Miele or Sebo from a local vacuum/sewing store.

This vacuum sucks up everything!! Even cords you're trying to vacuum around. But once you know it's fine, it just takes a little extra work to pick them up before destroying them. The battery life is very good. On the 2nd setting it easily lasts well over 30 minutes of hard floor and carpet vacuuming

It's likely not a popular one with enthusiasts, but you might read some reviews on the Shark Apex DuoClean or the Shark Vertex DuoClean- the corded models with the keyword being the DuoClean head design. Right around your price range and I have seen some good reviews with tests for the situation you are describing. I believe all Sharks have a 5yr warranty too. They also have cordless models, but I have not read anything on them

The vacuum has good suction but the design is awful. Canister has two side latches you have to undo both and put them back just right, not quick and easy one button release and snap back in. Canister is also small. Wish I'd checked this out in the store before I ordered it

Upon unboxing and initial inspection you can tell it had been previously owned but was well cleaned. Everything worked perfect. The round foam filter was clean but stained/discolored and the HEPA filter was not there. I would still recommend but maybe have back up filters too

She's now totally sold on Shark. It's incredible maneuverable, insanely easy to disassemble for emptying or changing modes, incredibly simple filter cleaning, and the attachments are fantastic. I've used this on regular carpet, thick rugs, kitchen mats, hardwood floors, hardwood stairs, under the stove, and to clean out the corners of the ceilings. Additionally, removing parts to dislodge a clog (which has only happened twice) is a cinch

Even when I first purchased, I could tell that it wasn't the same. Not the same awesome filter, it didn't stand up very good so we had to prop it against things. (Probably the part that ultimately broke never was right, but I didn't realize I should have taken it back right off!) And then, shark doesn't even stand by this piece of garbage for a year. It supposedly has a five year warrantee, but not for that part

My only complaints are that I wish the hose was longer and there was a greater variety in available attachments. I would like a full bristled upholstery attachment. Those two things and this vacuum would be perfect, but even without it's really, really excellent!

Suction and all that was fine. Not too difficult to assemble though a little bit confusing. My only real complaint is that the hose section needs to be longer. I think the photos in the ad with the woman vacuuming her doorway above her head are misleading and maybe even photo-edited, as I tried doing that and had to hold the canister waaaay higher than she shows in the photo, and I am almost 5'7" tall

Overall, I'm very pleased. The battery life is 'okay' or competitive with most other cordless vacuums, but shocked me was the noise. This vacuum is VERY loud and almost sounds broken when it is running (I ended up looking at the head to see if something was wrong as it was that loud)

This month is started making an awful noise, and the suction went down. Target can do nothing since it’s past their return policy. SHARK says the motor is broken and that I have to pay for shipping for a new motor and install it myself. This vacuum has been used on a family room and a few bedrooms for not even a year
