 It'S just expected that you'll use the hose for debris over a certain size, but quite seriously there is nothing like a duo clean when it comes to vacuuming medium to large debris. I often say to touch: it is to vacuum it with duo cleans and it's not just about large debris either. It'S also uniquely good for the other end of the spectrum. That is fine debris where it not only picks up the material really good, but it leaves the floors with a polished look which is great for like dusty houses

 The shark vertex is the new top of the line premium. Upright vacuum from shark and it seems to be an upgrade from their previous flagship vacuum, the apex the vertex is about the same weight as the apex, but it has a bigger dustbin, a wider cleaning path and, as we'll see later, it has more power, which is Saying something because the apex was already super powerful, like the apex, the vertex is a powered, lift away, meaning that you can lift away the pod for powered or motorized cleaning under furniture, or you could just use it. In its handheld configuration for above floor cleaning, the vertex also has shark's anti-allergen complete seal system with hepa filtration, meaning that it keeps all the dust and microscopic stuff in the vacuum. Instead of blowing it back out into your air, which is something that you typically only find with premium vacuums and is kind of a must have feature

 But the vertex appears to have a newly designed anti-hair wrap system which is even better than the previous ones. But i can't tell you exactly how it works, because it doesn't have a way to open the head, like the others do, but i can tell you that, at least in part, the new so-called power fins brushroll helps it to resist hair tangles. In any case, i tested it with the usual 1 gram of 7 inch and 1 gram of 14 inch hair with no tangles, which is incredibly good, but the apex 0m, which was the previous best at this test, could also do one gram of 14 inch hair. But it would have a minimal amount, like 14 of that one gram caught in its brush, but since the new vertex was able to do that test perfectly, i upped it to an unprecedented 2 grams of 14 inch hair, which no previous vacuum i've tested could even Come close to doing and, to my surprise, there were no tangles other than a little bit caught in its wheel

Shark Vertex Powered Lift Away Upright Vacuum Review - Vacuum Wars

Our Shark Vertex is broken (I think it's the bearings in the roller) and I will not spend $100 to replace a head that will likely do the same thing in another year. I will be purchasing a Miele or Sebo from a local vacuum/sewing store.

 The final pro before we move on to the cons is the way that it handles. It was very smooth on hard floors and carpet and very easy to maneuver, especially on hard floors. Moving on to the negative stuff. First, on carpets, it's just a little bit harder to push because of the suction and because of the soft roller up front, which kind of wants to run away from you a little bit, making it a little more tiring on your arm for carpets

 But you don't have to use the trigger if you don't want to which saves strain on your hand. And here's the thing i didn't actually find any reason to boost the power. What i mean is that the pickup ability of the vertex is more about mechanics than power, so i think it did just as good in low power as it did in high power. In fact, most of these pickup tests on the screen were done in low power mode

 The thing is, though, even though shark puts this technology on most of their corded vacuums, it's been kind of hit and miss with their cordless vacuums, really only three of their recent cordless vacuums, have it with the vertex being one of them. So it's a big pro in my book. The battery situation is a pro as well. The battery itself is removable and replaceable, which i like

 Ironically, it's also incredibly good for fine debris like dust and sand too. The shark vertex cordless also has a lot of power. Shark says it has more suction than any of their previous cordless stick vacuums and in my tests i found that it had quite a bit more suction than their previous flagship, cordless, stick, which is the rocket pet plus and just a touch more airflow than the rocket As well, the vertex uses the same trigger-based boost system as the previous model. You basically turn it on by choosing either the hard floor or carpet setting and if you want to, you, can squeeze the trigger for a high power boost

Shark Vertex Cordless Review - SHARK'S BEST CORDLESS YET!

 This vacuum sucks up everything!! Even cords you're trying to vacuum around. But once you know it's fine, it just takes a little extra work to pick them up before destroying them. The battery life is very good. On the 2nd setting it easily lasts well over 30 minutes of hard floor and carpet vacuuming

 It definitely goes longer than that I just haven't had to vacuum for more than that length of time. What I don't like about this vacuum is the very poor debris cup design. There's this stick like piece in the middle of the cup and every length of hair gets caught around it so you have to touch it, and all the dirt and dust with it, to literally rip it off the stick. Also there are crevices within the design of the bin that hold dust

  The dust bin is simple to remove and clean out and no vacuum bag is needed.  This vacuum is definitely doing a great job of keeping my home clean and tidy.

  My car seats and floor mats that normally are covered with debris looked nearly close to factory after just a new minutes of vacuuming.  It comes with several attachments for getting into smaller crevices which work well while they are on but seem to be very hard to remove once they are on.  The vacuum has different settings for different surfaces so I could get the perfect amount of suction needed.  The amount of pet hair it removes is amazing and I don't need multiple passes to get all the hair removed

It's likely not a popular one with enthusiasts, but you might read some reviews on the Shark Apex DuoClean or the Shark Vertex DuoClean- the corded models with the keyword being the DuoClean head design. Right around your price range and I have seen some good reviews with tests for the situation you are describing. I believe all Sharks have a 5yr warranty too. They also have cordless models, but I have not read anything on them

Need a new vacuum for pets/allergies, upright preferred

Upon unboxing and initial inspection you can tell it had been previously owned but was well cleaned. Everything worked perfect. The round foam filter was clean but stained/discolored and the HEPA filter was not there. I would still recommend but maybe have back up filters too

I don't want to be right! :) I really LOVE this vacuum, I mean really love it! I have a long history with big-name, expensive vacuums (my parents own a janitorial company) and I have a big-name, expensive vacuum myself. I had just vacuumed two days before I used the Shark and the amount of dirt that the vacuum pulled up was both fascinating and appalling. The SHark is also way better at pulling up the nap on my carpet even in heavily worn areas. If loving you is wrong...

 Overall, I'm very pleased. The battery life is 'okay' or competitive with most other cordless vacuums, but shocked me was the noise. This vacuum is VERY loud and almost sounds broken when it is running (I ended up looking at the head to see if something was wrong as it was that loud)

 So now I'll have to send this vacuum back to Amazon- and although I love the amazing suction it has- it isn't worth the hassle to buy another one. I am pretty disappointed because I had so many people tell me that Shark was better than Dyson.. =/ I guess I'll have to figure that one out for myself!

SO Frustrating, but great suction....

 I found nothing fussy about the Shark. In the end, I didn't have to compromise. I usually vacuum the carpet twice with a new vacuum, once with the new one, and then once with the old one. While not all that scientific, I know that if the old one picks up lots of stuff, they new ones not up to snuff

 Where the Dyson was fussy, the Shark is effortless. The hose detaches from the stem, and re-attaches easily as does the stem from the body, and the lift away, and the canister. I found nothing fussy about the Shark. In the end, I didn't have to compromise

 I haven't had to clean the Sharks brush roll at all. Bottom line for me though is how dead simple it is to empty the canister. a flip of an easily accessible button with the canister pointed in the trash can and its empty. There is a top latch to empty any large items that don't make it into the canister, and it is as easy to empty as it is to avoid contact with dust
