There is a bit of resistance when pushing the machine, but it is quite manageable, and can be reduced by turning a dial on the turbo head itself or by turning the suction on the machine down. However, on low pile carpet, with the suction all the way up and the brush dial on 'full suction' it cleans extremely well. The suction provided by the Miele is really high, so you do get the sense it is cleaning the hell out of your carpets.

The air that comes out of the vacuum is heavily filtered and is actually quiet clean. This is a big relief for us.
