The Kenmore also delivers impressive overall performance on high-pile carpet, though the Eureka is more effective in dealing with fine debris. Unfortunately, its bulky dirtbag compartment can get in the way when cleaning under tables and chairs. There's also no way of adjusting its floorhead height, but thankfully, it does have a brushroll off switch, lowering the chances of getting stuck on loose obstructions like rug tassels.

the cord is very short. I have to switch outlets often. Also the hose is so short and is attached to an awkward plastic handle that makes its nearly impossible to use with the tools (see pic). When using the extension piece with the tools you have to completely unwind and remove the cord to use and the piece is heavy and awkward to use

Vac head swivels. I'm getting use to it. The purple body of the vac with handle easily lifts off the base and carries anywhere you want to go - w/in the length of the cord, of course. There is a "full bag" indicator plus you get extra bags with the cleaner!! It has a powerful suction that gets lint out of my Texas House carpet (it's a sculpted carpet in my dining area)

I'd say the suction is about 75% of what the Dyson does based on my experience. The Dyson is more ergonomically friendly and that's what the Shark is lacking. Bottom line, I'd recommend this vacuum cleaner but if you've got a bigger budget, go with something better.

The suction power is awesome. Only time will tell really on how reliable it is and build quality. Update! I really wanted to like this vacuum. Had it for less than a month

I have a lab and a border collie mix, and the [Shark Navigator Lift Away 2XL capacity]([URL REMOVED] handles hair, dirt, and everything else they track through the house like a champ, and comes apart so easily if the brush roller needs cleaned. It has a hard floor setting and a carpet setting, and you can adjust the suction level on it too if you need to vacuum a rug without it getting sucked in.

The suction, as loud as it is, does *not* do an excellent job from the side or full front. I must use two hands to push in the button that releases the hose handle from the unit. It maneuvers about as easily as my last vacuum. On the upside, I appreciate the bags which eliminates the need to wipe out a bin full of static and fine dust (which I used to do only in the garage with my earlier vacuum)

The vacuum comes with four attachments and space to store only 2 of them on the vacuum itself. This is infuriating and lazy design. You can store the vacuum upright and take it out of storage with a single hand. But then you'll have to go crawling around looking for the two attachments that don't stay on the vacuum

It's tiny and they recommend washing it, which makes it lose its integrity as a hepa filter. The real filtering is farther inside and consists of a couple of sponges that immediately fill up with dirt and need to be washed (and dried) often. Cord: It has a very short cord - this problem is easily solved with an extension cord of course. It is also poorly placed, so you have to put it up over your shoulder to keep from stepping on it, which makes the cord even shorter

You can pick up its canister body separately from its upright chassis, making it easier to clean tight spots

I have owned a lot of different brand vacuum cleaners, Shark is definitely one of my top favorites. The suctioning power lasts with this brand. The key is to clean your filters regularly. Especially if you live where you get a lot of dust in your home or if you have pets

The added hepa filter is amazing touch for those of us who had extremely bad allergies. It seems to do a great job catching the small particles of dust that other vacuums leave floating in the air. The no touch bag design helps tremendously when it's time to change them out ( there is a light that lets you know how full the bag is).

Also, from my experiences with the older model, the foam filters need to be cleaned quite often (after about every third heavy use) and I would like to see a more efficient cyclonic separator so that the foam filter maintenance frequency is reduced. Also, the hinged cover that is used to empty the dust cup can only open 90 degrees. If you empty it as shown in the manual (with the cover at bottom, then opening it to drop contents into trash) the debris flows over the cover/door and all over the seal and door, which then needs to be wiped off with a damp cloth. To prevent this I invert the dust cup before opening the door/cover, then I hold it open and dump out the contents away from the door

The HEPA filters cost around $10 (but a new foam filter is also included).
