Having said that, I would not recommend this Shark to anyone for a ONE AND ONLY vac. It is not versatile enough to be the Lone Ranger of cleanup. I purchased this vac for the large areas of our house with hardwood and tile floors for quick cleanup along with the accompanying area rugs in these rooms. Out of the box first impressions: WHO EVER THOUGHT THAT A VAC THAT WOULD NOT STAND UP ON ITS OWN WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA? First MAJOR design flaw! Often during the course of vacuuming, you need to stop, and either move something, or in some way have need of walking away from the vac for a few seconds

I will say it’s light, easy to put together, carry around the house, I like how it can get under tables easily, and the fact that it will pick up a lot of stuff that regular sweepers don’t. Again it’s a nice sweeper I don’t regret buying it just wish I would have known some of this stuff before purchasing.

Overall it's not a bad choice for simple chores but don't expect a high-powered pet vacuum. Its very convenient when I dont want to pull out my corded vacuum. I would recommend if you want something to use when touching up.

Going back to their "no-tangle" technology, I've had this unit for over 6 months and I've only had to cut off the stuck hairs once. That is a HUGE improvement from my previous units where it was a weekly ordeal. I've broken two cordless Dyson vacuums and thought this would be my save all. I do believe that this has more suction power for longer because it is corded, I just wish it wasn't so heavy

I am a bit disappointed in the durability of the front wheels in the power head. They only lasted a couple of months and now are clogged with hair and thus immobile. Attempts to clean them out by a mechanically-minded person have repeatedly failed and it just grates along the surface now causing a scraping noise and obvious wear to the plastic on the bottom but it still works. The internals are also a bit flimsy and brittle

Their Vaccums still reigns unparalleled in quality vs. functality vs. value. I still give this model 3 stars because it STILL beats most other vaccum brands out there and still trust the Shark brand, the name still firmly held in high regard

It'll pick up very light material on a smooth surface if it's directly below the suction area. You know when you're using a standard corded vacuum and you get close to something on the floor and the vacuum pulls it in and sucks it up? Or when there's a tuft of hair against a wall and you can push the vacuum against the wall to pull it in? Or when you're vacuuming on a textured floor or floor mat that has crevices about 1/4 inch deep and the vacuum pulls the dirt up and out of the crevices? This vacuum won't do any of that. It's low suction even at the highest setting. For smooth floors, or very low pile mats and throw rugs on hard floors, you'll more often be using the med power

It's easy to assemble and disassemble in order to use it in all its different forms. It performs pretty well on pet hair. The less than good: it has to be stored in an awkward unconnected position, where the wand still sticks up, but the handheld hooks onto the base. Good design in that it hooks on and doesn't tip over, just weird that you have to take it apart (I think you could hang it on a wall hook if you had that kind of room and then it could remain in one piece

CONS: the waste container is only lightly latched on so is ridiculously easy to accidentally knock off while in use, the waste container hatch is spring-loaded so when the container gets knocked off and hits the floor the hatch springs open spewing everything you just vacuumed (REALLY BAD DESIGN THERE), a standard B&D 20V battery does not last very long when using the motorized attachment (definitely need to use one of the larger 3rd-party batteries), the motorized rug attachment does a poor job on bare wood floors -- I made my own attachment from an old Hoover canister vac (see photos). CONCLUSION: will use this as our main household vacuum, but I still have to figure out a workaround for the absurd waste container latch. For the high price point, I shouldn't have to do that. UPDATE: I used a slice of an old bicycle inner tube as tie-around security for the tumbling waste container

Shark did have pretty good, responsive customer service though, and that is a bonus in my book. I do wish it came with more accessories. The attachment hose it comes with is skinny and short and makes the suction feel weak. It's not good for much

To test our vacuums, we task them with picking up pet hair to see how readily the brushroll gets tangled. Then, we use fruity cheerios to see if the vacs can handle large particles without clogging. Finally, we use sand as a stress test to gauge their ability to deep clean fine particles. We do each test three times on low and mid pile carpets as well as hardwood floors

It is not 100 percent self-cleaning as I still had to pull some hair and strings that got caught along the sides of the brush roll which was significantly less than my Dyson. What I hate most was its non-HEPA filter. Not only that, the exhaust location is on the top back of the handle which blows hot air to the user.

The filter can not be removed and cleaned (at least as far as I can find and the rotating filler is useless.

Oh, you can get a bag for them from Shark but you have to buy the bag? Ha! No Thanks!! Also, really, Shark? Really? You're going to make me purchase the hook to hang this vacuum on separately? Sad the greed in the world. It's ok and I'm not returning it as I need one while I'm selling my home but I don't think I would buy this again unless it was $50 cheaper.

Nothing terrible, just a little bit annoying to line up. So why 4 stars instead of 5? Price. I try not to deduct points for price, since I can see that up front and can choose to make or not make the purchase, but in this case I made an exception. I'm not sure that I would have bought it at this price if I weren't already heavily invested in the B&D 20V Max battery system
