The shape of the handle provides a great grip as well, with two very slight depending angles or you might call them quasi-choils on either end of the handle lock my pointer, middle, and ring fingers in place. The knife also has a bit of a badonkadonk, with a larger handle that extends past the downward angle of the choil, giving you an even more secure grip on the knife itself. That some extension also houses the lanyard hole.

I would prefer a positive action on the knife throughout, but when opened it doesn’t feel insecure.

So how about the steel? S30V is a tried and true workhorse. Developed by Crucible with the help of legendary knife maker Chris Reeve, intended to hold a fine sharp edge for a long time, as well as having a very healthy amount of chromium making it extremely rust resistant.

 I keep grabbing the wrong knife from these two that are much more close in proximity, so any difference in height would really the the two handle slabs. So i'm not real concerned about that one being a thousandth higher and by the way that tail bushing even on the old sebunza, is a turned bushing. But if we look here on the on the small 31, i have 144 thousandths at the pivot 145. At the stop at 146 at the tail, so something close to a whole thousandth of an inch in difference between the pivot and the stop

 Of course, mine is left-handed. This 31 property of my sharpening customer scott verified knife addict mine is left-handed, his is right-handed, but as we look closely at the handles, we will see that other than some identification, which is in a slightly different place. If we look at the cr signature, they are basically identical in profile and i do mean identical yeah, no real changes in the envelope of the handle right. There are a couple differences, though one is you'll notice that the pocket clip is now canted

 This large and this small have no different behavior than a num num zone or an incosi, and i waited to do this review until i had sharpened about eight of these and had them in hand and seen how they operate um. It'S a super fine, lock, interface, guys, no reason uh to be alarmed by that, so those are the really only differences in the handle or frame of the 31 versus the 21., the position of the clip and the lock interface interesting. I think that when i reviewed the sebenza 25, the precursor to the incosi, one of the things i said about it is that they shouldn't call it a sebenza for two reasons: the shape of the handle with the extra groove and the fact that it uses a Tension adjustable pivot instead of the bushing pivot on all prior sebenzas, and i suggested perhaps that they should take some of the styling cues from the incosi, go back to a bushing pivot and produce the next sebenza and that's kind of what they did um

. You know it's been sharpened and cleaned and polished and tuned by me over the years. It'S strange, though, because that little ball bearing detent seems to ride smoother on the blade than this big ceramic ball does on the 31, which it shouldn't the larger diameter should be smoother. The ceramic should be smoother than the steel ball bearing, but maybe it's running a little more pivot tension

Chris Reeve Sebenza 31 Review:  A Worthy Successor, But Not Perfect

 I know these are made by Reate who probably charges more for production than Bestech but the Tashi Future, Jack 2.0, Jack 1.0 and Tashi Krypton are all infinitely more appealing from both a design standpoint and an engineering standpoint than this knife while ALL being at a lower price point (over $100 cheaper).

 In the same place, every single time, I think we can actually see the exact point that that ball meets the yeah. It'S like right there, it's about 40 % and it locks up super Saul and it's reliable. That'S generally always been the case with the Sebenza Sivan. On the standard, carbonized lock phases, but on the other Chris Reeve models that I've handled they no matter how many times I flipped them open, they were just always exactly the same

 You can see that the hardware is the same all over the place. That'S perfect! That'S that's why I have this biased about hardware's, because knives late, it's like how it! How simple is this like Chris Reeve knives have been doing this forever and it's and everybody's like yeah, we love this and you gave us the tool and it's so easy. Just do that other knife manufacturers, other knife companies just do that, make the hardware the same size and provide the tool I've. Let me back, let me make sure that I'm correct same size, same size, same size, same size

 It may not be as corrosion resistant, but it's absolutely a stainless steel. It'S also a much tougher stainless steel. In fact, I think I always say this, and I say I think I'm right, I think s35vn is the toughest stainless steel, but I could be wrong about that in terms of toughness to corrosion resistance, the ratio and then it it has a good level of edge Retention, but it is much easier to sharpen than a lot of other steels in the same caliber, it's even easier to sharpen than s30v. On top of that, I bring this up all the time

 You know I like the Doppler pattern on this guy, a lot personally um, but I see absolutely no real need to go to a 31 on this particular knife. I don't you know somebody, you know a magic GD comes out of a lamp and grants me wishes what a my wish is. They ain't gon na be to turn this into a 31. It doesn't frigging matter so if you've got a 21 already you're all set, you can get a 31

 The next thing a bunch of people are gon na. Ask me Nick, oh you're, doing a full review you're doing a full review, well kind of yeah. I I read it. I did I'd put it in the pocket
