The only board game we have played together is Zombicide which we enjoyed. I have HIVE and sushi go. Have yet to play much of either but I liked sushi go. 

We mostly spend time together as just the two of us so a two player game is important. But this will be a Christmas gift so I suspect we may play with family on first use!

Thoughts on PARKS as a two player game

I just snagged a copy of **Royal Visit** before they all disappear off the face of the planet thanks to SUSD. Some other aesthetic gems in my current collection:  

 One coin gives you one coin and two points. Sometimes you don't feel like finishing that panorama or whatever, so these are here until they run out, you can take as many of those as you want when you stop at a hot springs or a bathhouse. Instead of taking a hot springs card, which, if you remember, are two or three points you can take one of these cards, which are worth four points problem. Is these costs a coin? To do so? So again, that's up to you

 These are going to be much more expensive objects, possibly that can add to your sets, there's an extra set that can take a set all the way up to nine now and some that are just worth eight points that you can buy and then, finally, whenever you Go to have an encounter you can take besides an encounter card. You can take one of these calligraphy cards here, and these are extra points at the end of the game. Again, these costs money. So this will give you three for every uneaten meal

 When you go to a space, you can take both options on that space. Here you can trade, your meal card, take your meal card for free. When you stop at an end see these are like one-time actions that you can buy. Whenever you go to a temple, when you go to a shop, you can take the souvenirs or you can go for a legendary object

 Actions you take against another player appear very subtle since all you can really do is block them from taking a certain space but then they may take a space you really want.  This is a good game to introduce non-gamers to or to people that just want a relatively simple game to learn and play.

 The rules are very straighforward. Each player is a character with a special ability that will help you when you stop at specific spaces as you traverse the path. Decisions are fairly easy: stop at a location, pick up the corresponding card and gain immediate points, choose to purchase it or leave an offering at the temple. Almost every action will give you some points so it minimized analysis paralysis
